Bose’s top noise-canceling headphones are $50 off right now

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones in white.
Simon Cohen / Digital Trends

There are really only a few headphones that are at the top of the majority consumer market, like the AirPods Max or the Sony WH-1000XM5, and they represent some of the best headphones you can buy. Recently, a new contender entered the ring in the form of the Bose QuietComfort Ultra, and it’s certainly giving the other headphones a run for their money. Not only that, but there’s an excellent Memorial Day deal on them that will bring the price down to $379 from the usual $429, so you should certainly consider grabbing them.

Why you should buy the Bose QuietComfort Ultra

The “comfort” in the Bose QuietComfort Ultra name isn’t just a fancy marketing term, and for those who really value comfort, the QC Ultra certainly delivers, with large plush cups and a gentle clamping force that doesn’t feel overwhelming. That’s great because the audio performance is excellent, and if you’re a fan of Bose, then you’ll be happy that the QC Ultra goes back to the older day, so Bose’s energetic high-frequencies but with a dollop of more bass performance. Essentially, if you like Bose’s audio beautification with how it handles EQ, then you’ll likely really enjoy these headphones, especially if you also appreciate the way that Sony handles audio since it’s a step in that direction as well.

When it comes to Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), the QC Ultra has dethroned all the previous headphones and is currently the best at ANC. Surprisingly, it’s even at the top of the game when it comes to transparency mode, dethroning the AirPods Max and making it sound a lot more natural than before. That said, you weirdly can’t switch ANC off entirely, which is a little bit frustrating. Also worth noting is that the battery life isn’t phenomenal compared to other headphones at this price range, with about 18-24 hours worth of charge depending on the level of ANC and the use of immersive audio.

All in all, the QC Ultra is an excellent pair of headphones if you want the best ANC and very Bose-leaning audio, and with the $50 discount from Best Buy, it’s worth taking the plunge. Even so, if you’d still rather go for one of the other high-end options, check out these other great headphone deals.

My favorite headphones are $50 off right now — you need them
Man wearing Sony WH-1000XM4 headpones.

Right now, one of the best headphone deals comes from Crutchfield. Today, you can buy the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones for $50 off, meaning you pay $298 instead of $348. The headphones are my personal favorite, doing a fantastic job of making whatever I listen to sound great and blocking out surrounding noises wonderfully. If that sounds like something you want in your life (you really do), read on for more information on why these are must have headphones.

Why you should buy the Sony WH-1000XM4
Sensible potential buyers no doubt head over to see what we rank as the best headphones. If that’s you, you’ll notice the Sony WH-1000XM4 aren’t there any more. They used to be, until the WH-1000XM5 came out and replaced them. I bought the WH-1000XM4 after the newer model came out because the price difference and some subtle changes meant that it simply made more sense to go slightly older. We have a full comparison between the Sony WH-1000XM5 and XM4, but what it boils down to is that the XM5 are a little lighter but they don’t fold up like the XM4, which would have been annoying when I was on a recent flight and trying to squeeze everything into my carry-on.

This $270 QLED TV deal has the makings of something better
A display of Hisense's QD5 QLED.

If you check out our listing of the best TVs, you may admittedly get some sticker shock. It makes sense — they are the best for a reason — but that doesn't necessarily make it comfortable for your family's budget. Maybe everyone already has one of the best tablets for watching movies, you don't value screen time that much, or its just not in the budget. That's why we also keep tabs on great TVs under $500, too. And this deal on a 55-inch Hisense QD5 QLED certainly makes a compelling case for it to be the TV you buy today if price is a factor. Normally $400, the QD5 can be yours for just $270 if you buy now. That's a savings of $130, or about 33%, if you tap the button below and make a purchase. Keep reading to see our insights as well.

Why you should buy the 55-inch Hisense QD5 QLED
It might be weird to think of it this way, but with a TV at this price it helps more to think of what it's missing than what it has. The good news is there isn't much absent here. It's a Google TV, so you know the OS has modern touches you'll feel comfortable with, including a voice remote. Gaming is also pretty well covered, with a "game mode" we see on so many TVs these days and motion rate 120 for smoother action. It has a 4K AI upscaler, HDR 10 (but not HDR 10+), and Dolby Vision Audio. And, with all that, it still manages to bring in one of the two big TV techs by being a QLED. This means it offers superior brightness to traditional LED TVs that you might be used to at this price point.
