Recently formed consumer electronics company ED Digital, who is set to sell a new line of consumer electronics products under the Digitrex brand, today announced the integration of Windows Media Connect support in their upcoming High-Definition Network LCD TVs. No specific details were given out about models or pricing.
These new LCD TVs, said ED Digital, will offer native Windows Media Connect support and are among the first in their product category to do so. By enabling this type of support, the TVs will be able to have networked access to digital media stored on Windows XP based PCs. This includes content downloaded from compatible subscription services. ED Digital has added a user interface to the TVs to help with navigation of the networked content.
Windows Media Connect support will also allow Digitrex TVs to be compatible with digital media capabilities in the forthcoming Windows Vista operating system.
“We’re working to make the connected home a reality for all,” Steve Jean, vice president of marketing and product development, ED Digital, said. “Microsoft’s trusted Windows Media Connect technology gives our HD network TV an edge. The Digitrex High-Definition Network LCD TV seamlessly turns a Windows XP-based PC into a media server and digital entertainment portal, bringing a whole new source of exciting content right into the family room.”
