It’s Jessica vs. Kilgrave (and Jessica plus Luke Cage) in the new Jessica Jones trailer

The premiere of Marvel’s Jessica Jones series is just over a week away, and Netflix has released a new trailer for the much-anticipated follow-up to its popular

Daredevil series.

The new preview offers a grim introduction to Doctor Who alum David Tennant’s mind-controlling villain, Kilgrave, as well as a heated hint at what’s to come for Krysten Ritter’s superhero-turned-detective Jessica Jones and the man known as Luke Cage (Mike Colter), who will get his own solo series next year.

The second of four live-action series set in Marvel’s cinematic universe that will debut on Netflix, Jessica Jones casts Ritter as a former superhero whose career came to a tragic end shortly after it had begun. Now trying to rebuild her life, she works as a private investigator in New York City specializing in cases that involve superhuman abilities, while constantly battling her own personal demons.

Along with Ritter, Tennant, and Colter, the series also stars Rachael Taylor, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, Wil Traval, and The Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss, who features prominently in the new trailer.

Following Daredevil and Jessica Jones, Marvel and Netflix will release a Luke Cage series and another show, Iron Fist, in 2016. All four series will then be brought together for a limited series titled The Defenders, featuring all four lead characters. Daredevil was one of the most popular original series to premiere on Netflix in recent years and earned rave reviews from critics and general audiences alike.

Jessica Jones is executive produced by series showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight, Dexter), Liz Friedman (Elementary), and Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). The series is scheduled to premiere November 20 on Netflix at 12:01 a.m. PT. All 13 episodes will be available to watch when the series is released.
