Mitsubishi Details New HD Projector

Mitsubishi Digital Electronics today announced its first high-definition projector designed for wide-format laptops and imaging applications which use 16:9 aspect ratio. The new HD4000U is available for $2,995.

The HD4000U, said Mitsubishi, combines Texas Instruments DDP3020 DLP image processing and its own color processing technology to get what the company calls greater brightness and truer colors. Features of this projector include a native resolution of 1280 x 768 (WXGA), a contrast ratio of 2500:1, a weight of 6.4 pounds and 2000 ANSI lumens.

“System consultants and integrators have been requesting a widescreen projector from Mitsubishi that shows excellent video,” said James Chan, director, product marketing, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, in a statement. “Our HD4000U offers them the flexibility and portability they need for almost any setting.”

LG debuts two new CineBeam 4K HDR projectors
LG CineBeam HU715Q and HU710P 4K HDR projectors.

LG has unveiled its two most advanced projectors to date. The LG CineBeam HU715Q and HU710P both feature 4K resolution and HDR capabilities with 2,000,000:1 contrast ratios. Both models will be available in the first quarter of 2022, and LG released pricing on February 28.

The HU710P will retail at $2,500. It uses a hybrid laser-LED light source, which LG says doesn't require a color wheel, and can generate up to 2,000 lumens of brightness. The HU715Q, which is a larger, ultra short throw model, uses just laser light and produces up to 2,500 lumens. Both projectors will work in most indoor settings, but LG says they can also be enjoyed outside, after sunset.

Epson’s new 4K laser projector does HDR10+, 120Hz gaming
Epson Pro Cinema LS12000.

Epson has just dropped its newest flagship 4K laser projector and it boasts some impressive specs that will make it a serious contender for fans of big-screen movies and gaming alike. The Epson Pro Cinema LS12000 4K PRO-UHD Laser Projector (model V11HA47020MB) has been priced at $4,999 and can be purchased at the Epson online store and Magnolia and CEDIA dealers.

Five grand is a lot of money, but when you dig into the LS12000's capabilities, it starts to seem a lot more reasonable, especially as you compare to OLED and QLED TVs with the same features. Using a newly designed laser array light source and a three-chip LCD display engine, the LS12000 boasts 2,700 lumens of brightness and can reproduce 100% of the color in an HDR10 video signal, according to Epson. There's also compatibility with HLG and HDR10+ (though not Dolby Vision), and native support for 120Hz refresh rates, along with a claimed input lag time below 20 milliseconds, all of which will make it a very good gaming companion for both consoles and PCs.

Projectors had long been large, cumbersome pieces of equipment that cost thousands of dollars. But in 2021, there is a wide range of options, from excellent 4K projectors to great on-the-go portable projectors, and that's precisely where the new LG CineBeam PF610P slots in.

The latest in LG's CineBeam lineup brings full HD video to screens as big as 120-inches. Thanks to its 1,000 ANSI lumens of brightness coming from the 4-channel LED light source, this projector can work in various environments other than pure darkness. Also, because the projector uses LED technology, the lamp's life span is up to 30,000 hours of use.
