Panasonic Shows Off 1080p Home Projector

Panasonic Shows Off 1080p Home Projector

At the pre_CES New York Press Preview today, Panasonic began showing off its first LCD home theater projector to offer 1080p resolution. The trippingly-named PT-AE1000U features an all-new optical system, next-generation non-organic C2Fine LCD panels for improved black level performance, and an improved version of Panasonic’s Dynamic Iris. The PT-AE1000U offers a brightness of 1,100 lumens and the highest contrast ratio of any projector in its class: 11,000 to 1.

“In collaboration with leading Hollywood colorists and image experts, we’ve developed cutting-edge projector technology to meet the growing demand for superior home entertainment, particularly high-definition content,” said Thomas Zitelli, president of Panasonic Projector Systems Company. “For home theater connoisseurs and audio video professionals who desire the richest colors and the best image quality, our new PT-AE1000U LCD projector enables consumers to easily enjoy movie theater-quality entertainment at home.”

The new projector also offers a waveform monitor to measure the brightness output of a video source so users can adjust it for home theater use; the system also offers 14-bit gamma correction and Panasonic’s Smooth Screen technology which reduced the grid-effect of black lines appearing between individual pixels. The PT-AE1000U also offers a 2x optical zoom, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and can cast a 100-inch diagonal image from as little as five feet away.

Panasonic plans to have the PT-AE100U available later this month via authorized systems dealers; expect a price around $6,000.

If you're looking to built or upgrade a home theater setup and are currently pricing out television, don't buy that big-screen TV just yet. Home theater projectors have come a long, long way in recent years, with brands like XGIMI leading the way. Home theater projectors deliver a cinematic experience right in the comfort of your living room, basement, bedroom, or even outside, as these devices are easier to install and move around than a TV. XGIMI projectors range from compact portable units to full-featured cinephile-grade projectors, so no matter what you're looking for, chances are that XGIMI has it. We've laid out all the top models with a run-down of their features below.
Best home theater projector: XGIMI HORIZON Pro -- $1,279, was $1,899

If you're looking for a jack-of-all-trades projector for a living room or basement theater room, the XGIMI HORIZON ticks all the boxes. This Epson Home Cinema Projector is $100 off for Black Friday
Epson Projector in Living Room

The pandemic probably broke up your usual cinema-going habits. Now could be the time to resume them ... but why not improve them instead? As part of Best Buy Black Friday deals, we've got a home cinema projector at a big discount for you. Make your home the cinema instead when you get the Epson Home Cinema 880 for just $500, a big $100 off of the typical $600 price. But be sure to order now while the deal lasts; you can get your popcorn later.

Why you should buy the Epson Home Cinema 880
There are a lot of Black Friday TV deals going on today, and a lot of them are for really smart TVs with all of the modern features. So, why might a projector compete? Freedom. When you get a portable projector, you aren't getting a fragile machine that's best set up and left alone. Instead, you're getting a tough box that you can take with you, and this is especially so with the hard plastic — but still under 6 pounds — body of the Epson Home Cinema 880. Complicated setups and plugins are out, too, with USB plug-and-play functionality and simple-to-use HDMI connection.

Samsung’s 120-inch smart 4K projector is $1,500 off right now
Samsung Premiere UST Projector.

It's that time of the year: home theater upgrade season. If you've been itching to get a bigger TV, a better sound system, or reinvent your TV room entirely, Black Friday deals are the time to do it. You may be tempted to wait until November 25, but Walmart Black Friday deals have actually started already. If you want to re-create the cinema experience at home, or you just can't find a TV big enough, you might just need a massive, high-quality projector. Right now Walmart has Samsung's The Premiere 120-inch 4K Smart Laser Projector for just $1,997. That's over $1,500 off its usual price of $3,500.

Why you should buy The Premiere 4K Smart Laser Projector
The most important thing about Samsung's The Premiere projector is its picture quality. Any projector could theoretically make a 120-inch projection on your wall, but The Premiere will project a stunningly crisp 4K image. It's literally laser precise. The Premiere is the first HDR10+ projector, meaning that on top of having the standard HDR10 image quality, it can adjust its brightness and contrast dynamically. Speaking of brightness, The Premiere can project at up to 2,200 lumens, so you'll have a great image even when watching during the day or with some ambient light.
