Samsung Moves More Production to China

“Samsung Electronics is rapidly increasing the number of products it makes in China, with its cheaper line of air conditioners as well as audio, MP3, and notebook computers sold in Korea now allproduced in the world’s most populous country.

Samsung Electronics said Monday it is winding down notebook PC production in Suwon and moving it to a factory in Suzhou, China. The company started the relocation process in 2003, relegating the Suwon facility to making advanced models only. With Monday’s move, the Suwon plant will only handle research and development, marketing, and product planning.

Manufacturing of audio products moved to Huizhou, China in the 1980s, where home-theater products have also been made since the late 1990s. All MP3 players are being produced in Huizhou.”

YouTube Premium on iPhone.

Get ready to pay a little more for a couple of Google's streaming options. As spotted by 9to5 Google, YouTube Premium — the add-on that (among other things) gets rid of advertising on YouTube — is now $2 more expensive each month, landing at $14. The annual subscription rate also is going up to $140, an increase of $20.

Meanwhile, the standalone subscription to YouTube Music (which you get for free if you sign up for YouTube Premium) is increasing by a dollar to $11 a month. That brings it in line with Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Tidal. Spotify now undercuts them all by that single dollar.
