Sharp 2013 audio line-up

A prototype 85-inch 8K TV isn’t the only thing Sharp brings to the table at CES this year. The Japanese company unveiled its new audio lineup of speaker docks, sound bars, and CD players before the show even officially started. It’s hard to say how they will live up to high-end audio options currently on the market, but they make quite a first impression. The HT-SB60 for example, showcases some impressive sound via its 2.1 channel arrangement and wireless subwoofer — not to mention it’s the only soundbar system on the market designed exclusively for 60-inch TVs and bigger. The sleek GX-M10, a modern spin on the classic ghetto blaster from the 80s, also made an appearance. Touting a scuba tank-esque exterior, the portable speaker system includes a built-in CD player, docking stations for all your favorite Apple devices, and a microphone and guitar input to take your show on the road. Hello, coffee shop world tour.

Klipsch’s new speakers are the no-soundbar soundbar we need
Klipsch The Fives Beauty

I’ve said it many times before: Everyone needs a soundbar. That is, everyone needs a convenient and intuitive way to upgrade their TV’s terrible sound. This, of course, doesn’t apply to A/V enthusiasts with speakers lining the walls (and/or ceiling) and a decked-out receiver. But for everyone else, a soundbar is pretty much mandatory.

But what if you could have a soundbar without having a soundbar? That’s essentially what Klipsch’s new powered bookshelf speakers, The Fives, provide. No longer in prototype stage, and freshly ready for CES 2020, The Fives utilize HDMI ARC connection (alongside a flurry of other features) for all the convenience of a minimalist sound solution -- including basic control from, your TV remote -- along with the added luxury of big drivers and true stereo separation.

Vizio Elevate Dolby Atmos-enabled soundbar

Vizio has always enjoyed a reputation for producing soundbars that are fantastic values, delivering far better sound than their affordable prices would suggest. And while that's still true, at CES 2020, Vizio is upping its soundbar game considerably.
