Westinghouse has announced its sleek new W4207 42-inch LCD display, touting the unit as the “ultimate home theater upgrade.”
“Westinghouse Digital strives to meet the needs of all consumers in the LCD HD market,” states Rey Roque, Westinghouse Digital Electronics’ VP of Marketing, in a release. “With the addition of the W4207, we provide users with set top boxes a fully featured HD display at an incredible value.”
The W4207 offers 1,366 by 768 resolution, which means the display tops out at 720p resolution and doesn’t natively support 1080p, the current top-tier of consumer high-definition video. Other specs include 500cd/m2 brightness, 1,600:1 contrast, 8ms response time, and 178°viewing angle. But the connectivity options may be what sells customers on this display, with HDMI, VGA, and DVI inputs, along with 2 component inputs, and 2 S-Video inputs. The unit also touts a quiet, fanless design and 2 15-watt speakers.
Even with all the connectivity options, one wonders whether the specs and lack of 1080p support will justify the $1,499 price tag. Guess Westinghouse will find out: the W4207 is available now.
