It’s another XM Satellite Radio news day as they announced plans to enter the motorcycle equipment market. Their first entry into this space targets the Harley-Davidson crowd as an accessory feature for some of their 2006 touring models.
The Advanced Audio System, which XM says has been designed for Harley-Davidson by Harmon/Kardon, is an AM/FM/XM-ready/WB/CD-MP3 system which utilizes 20 watts of power per channel. It has a high resolution display with adjustable background color which can show the playing XM channel as well as artist and title.
The Advanced Audio System with the XM Radio accessory feature will be found standard on the 2006 FLHTCUSE Screamin’ Eagle Ultra Classic Electra Glide. On the FLHX, FLHTC, FLTR and FLHTCU models, the sound system will be standard, with the XM feature offered as an option.
“Both XM and Harley-Davidson represent freedom of choice and innovation,” said Paul Kirsch, Vice President, OEM, XM Satellite Radio. “XM will now deliver the best in audio entertainment to a new generation of Harley-Davidson enthusiasts.”
