As tragedy unfolded yesterday during the London terrorist attacks, chatter in the blogosphere heated up over the tragedy. So says Intelliseek’s BlogPulse.com, a site which monitors millions of blogs, conducting daily analysis of key issues, trends and personalities.
BlogPulse reported that approximately 90 percent of the top 40 links shared most frequently by bloggers, and more than 90 percent of the phrases used in their discussions, related to the explosions that rocked London Thursday. The top phrases included “London bombingsâ€, “London blastsâ€, “terrorist attacks on London†and “London explosionsâ€.
Among those tied to the London attacks, British Prime Minister Tony Blair was the most discussed, according to BlogPulse. Also, ten of the top news links related to ongoing coverage involved the BBC.
“As with the tsunami, bloggers played an unprecedented role in reporting, spreading and keeping the news alive,” said Pete Blackshaw, chief marketing officer of Intelliseek, which owns BlogPulse. “Much of the coverage by on-site bloggers was sincere, real, and unscripted, as were their on-the-scene photos and videos shot from camera phones.”
