CTIA Wireless 2009 Show Floor Opens in Las Vegas

For those of you who read tech news regularly, or browse our own lovely news section on occasion, the term “CTIA” has been an unavoidable acronym this week. We all know CES, maybe PMA, maybe even MWC, but what the heck is CTIA?

You can keep your tech show decoder ring in your pocket. CTIA Wireless is basically a trade show highlighting wireless products and services. In today’s market, that means cell phones, apps for cell phones, accessories for cell phones, and cell phone service.

As for those pesky four letters, they don’t really mean much anymore. CTIA is the trade organization that puts on the show, and originally stood for Cellular Telephone Industries Association. But nowadays, they just go by CTIA, The Wireless Association.

We’ll be covering CTIA live from Las Vegas for the rest of this week, bringing news updates, photos, and hands-on reports on the smallest, shiniest and most ground-breaking products to come out from under wraps. Stay tuned!
