LG Hom-Bot Turbo+ vacuums your floors and keeps quiet about it

LG Hom-Bot Square Robotic Vacuum
As any homeowner knows, dust and dirt can collect fast. However, not every homeowner has time to vacuum as often as they would like to. Instead, many have turned toward robot vacuums to get the job done. With the latest LG Hom-Bot Turbo+, consumers are getting a robot vacuum that’s quieter and smarter than ever before.

All three models of LG‘s robot vacuum come with Wi-Fi connectivity, home security settings, and the quietest motors around. Owners can take control of their Home-Bot Turbo+ with their smartphone, or with voice command for the flagship gold model. Using the LG SmartThinQ app on either Android or iPhone, the Hom-Bot can be accessed from anywhere and use up to seven different cleaning modes.

With the premier gold model, owners also gain access to the LG HomeView feature. Using two front-facing cameras, owners can view and vacuum their home with live-stream technology. Additionally, LG HomeGuard uses motion detection to automatically snap images of moving objects. This allows homeowners to rest easy while on vacation. If there is ever a real security concern, users can make an emergency call straight from the companion app.

“LG Hom-Bot is the perfect partner in keeping a tidy and secure home, offering the convenience and performance of thorough cleaning functionality, along with the added security benefit of keeping an eye on the home, kids and even pets,” says David VanderWaal, vice president of marketing for LG Electronics USA.

For more effective cleaning, the new LG Hom-Bot Turbo+ models use a slim and square design. This allows it to get into tighter spaces and corners to brush away dust bunnies. The design also helps absorb more vibrations from the motor, making it one of the quietest robot vacuums around. LG boasts that it only reaches 60 decibels on non-carpeted floors.

When mapping the room, this little vacuum uses the Dual Eye 2.0 mapping system to scan ceilings, walls, and floors. This allows it to better remember a room’s layout, making it more efficient each time. LG Hom-Bot automatically kicks into turbo mode when it detects carpeting. For hardwood, tile, or stone, users can use a slide-in dry mop cloth.

The LG Hom-Bot Turbo+ is available now at select retailers in the United States with full availability rolling out in early fall 2017. The device comes in three different colors with varying features. Ruby Red features Wi-Fi, Dual Eye 2.0, and six cleaning modes for $699. For $799, Ocean Black adds an extra cleaning mode. And Metallic Gold is the flagship model with HomeView and HomeGuard for $999. Check out local retail availability on LG’s website.

The iRobot Roomba j7+ monitors your floors to avoid wires, pet droppings
iRobbot Roomba j7+ docked against wall.

How often do you have to rescue your robot vacuum from being stuck in cables and cords? For most people, it's at least once a week. Sure, you could clean the cords up beforehand, but isn't it easier to just trust the robot vacuum to avoid the cables? The new Roomba j7 Robot Vacuum with Genius 3.0 Home Intelligence -- a mouthful, yes -- can do exactly that. This new Roomba is perhaps the smartest model yet, capable of learning specific rooms down to the smallest detail.

The Roomba j7+ uses iRobot Genius 3.0, the latest version of artificial intelligence for iRobot devices. It uses PrecisionVision Navigation to grow smarter with each run. It remembers specific rooms and furniture and learns to clean where it's most needed, like around the kitchen table. It also asks for feedback and learns from your input. Perhaps the most impressive (and amusing) aspect of the Roomba j7+ is its ability to avoid cords and pet waste. It's back up by iRobot's Pet Owner Official Promise -- POOP -- which means the company will replace any Roomba j7+ that doesn't avoid solid pet waste.

Why won’t my Roomba charge? Tips to fix your robot vacuum
Underside of iRobot Roomba showing charging contacts.

iRobot’s Roomba devices are the original robot vacuums, but these days, there are dozens of different brands and models of robot vacuums. Some can be very affordable, but do-it-all bots that sweep and mop can be expensive, so when something goes wrong, it can be frustrating. A common problem is when your robot vacuum won’t charge. Fortunately, this is often an easy fix.
Why won't my robot vacuum charge? Tips to fix it
These tips will work for almost any robot vacuum or robot mop, so if your Roborock vacuum isn't charging or your Neato robot vacuum won’t run, you can try these universal fixes.
Common reasons a robot vacuum won’t charge
There are two very common reasons a robot vacuum may not be charging, and the first is the simplest: Check the plug.
Are the plugs seated correctly?
There’s s good chance your Roomba has come unplugged, and it can even be the vacuum itself that’s responsible, since repeated nudging of the base station can result in a disconnection or loose connection, either where the plug meets the base of the charging platform or at the wall. Of course, someone could have unplugged the charging station if the plug was needed for something else, too. So, a quick check to make sure all the power cables are securely connected can save you a world of time and troubleshooting.

If all that’s good, do yourself a favor and unplug then plug the bot back in. Yes, we all hate it when the IT person tells us to unplug it and plug it back in again, but that’s the most common and easy fix for some power problems since it creates a simple reset of the electrical system.
