LG’s latest InstaView refrigerator features voice-activated door

LG is continuing to add features to its stylish InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerator that landed a few years ago.

Set to be unveiled at CES 2021 next month is the latest iteration, this one featuring a voice-activated door.

So if you approach the refrigerator weighed down with groceries — or you simply want to impress visitors with an impromptu magic trick — just utter the words “open the refrigerator door” and you’ll be granted access to all of the goodies inside.

Besides enabling greater hands-free convenience, the feature also reduces touch activity on the refrigerator door, helping to improve hygiene in the home and potentially helping to prevent a viral infection or two.

Staying with cleanliness, the revamped InstaView refrigerator will also feature LG’s UVnano technology that works to maintain a hygienic and germ-free water dispenser tap. Introduced in 2017 with a number of LG’s water dispenser products, UVnano operates once an hour to remove “up to 99.99% of bacteria on the refrigerator’s dispenser tap.” The process can also be activated manually with the simple press of a button.

As with LG’s earlier InstaView refrigerators, two taps on the door’s transparent glass light up the interior so you can quickly see what’s inside without disrupting the refrigerator’s temperature and potentially firing up its cooling mechanism. The design has been further refined for 2021 with the addition of a more immersive tinted glass panel that’s 23% larger than previous models, offering an even better view of what’s inside.

As the refrigerator’s name confirms, the appliance retains the Door-in-Door feature that offers a quick-access space to help reduce the loss of cold air from its interior.

The refrigerator also supports interactive voice technology via the LG ThinQ app so you can ask it for the day’s agenda or check the status of its ice and water dispensers. It incorporates Amazon Dash Replenishment, too, enabling the automatic re-ordering of items such as water filters after linking an Amazon account with the ThinQ app.

LG is yet to reveal pricing for its new refrigerator, but the revelation may hit you like a blast of cold air from its freezer drawer (i.e., it won’t be cheap). We should learn more during LG’s keynote that we expect from CES 2021.

LG’s new cordless vacuum mops and empties itself via new charging base
lg new cordless vac empties itself can mop your floor ces 2021 cordzero and charging station

A clean home is more important now than ever before, and LG has taken to CES 2021 to debut its brand-new self-emptying stick vac: The LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor+. This is an upgraded model of the A9 Kompressor that features a charging stand that not only powers up the vacuum, but also empties out the dust bin. When the CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor+ is docked, the dust bin is automatically emptied into an attached bag. After it is emptied, the vacuum continues to charge.

Aside from the obvious benefits of self-emptying, the docking station also provides efficient storage space. The CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor+ includes six different accessories and attachments, all of which can be stored within the docking bay. The 2-in-1 Combination Tool, Crevice Tool, and Pet Nozzle fit within the docking bay itself for a more streamlined appearance. You can also adjust the docking bay's settings directly through its touch display. It is narrow enough to fit in almost any space and can be tucked away when not in use, making it perfect for almost any size home.

AirPop’s Active+ Smart Mask tracks your breathing like Fitbit tracks your steps
airpop active plus smart mask news yellow training

With the Active+ Smart Mask, AirPop brings Fitbit-style health tracking to your face, but instead of being all about steps and calories, it’s about your breathing and air quality. Face masks have become part of everyday life over the last year, and even when the coronavirus pandemic passes, many may consider wearing a mask more often, and AirPop has given you a reason to choose a more high-tech version.

A sensor, which AirPop calls the Halo, is the smart part of the mask, and measures your breathing rates and monitors the filter installed in the mask. The filter is designed to block dust, allergens, and particles, but has a limited lifespan. The Halo sensor communicates with an app on your phone to alert you when a new filter is required.
