As college dorms get set to open their bedrooms for another year, technology continues to become more a part of the on campus lifestyle. A case in point is an announcement from laundry facilities management company Mac-Gray about their LaundryView eMonitoring system.
The LaundryView eMonitoring system, Mac-Gray said, allows students to monitor washers and dryers in campus laundry rooms via the Internet. The availability and current status of each machine is displayed on a web page that students can access. The website also shows a graphical two week history of equipment usage so students can better plan their wash schedules.
When a washer or dryer is done with a student’s clothes, or when one becomes available for use, a student can set a notification alert which will send a message via email, cell phone or wireless PDA.
Mac-Gray also said they can use the LaundryView system to monitor the working status of their machines. If one breaks down, they can more quickly route a service technician to fix the problem.
