If Apple designed a house, we imagine it would look something like this. Designed by Violent Volumes, the incredibly mobile California Roll House was designed with the intended purpose of being assembled and disassembled in record speeds.
The house is made from fiber-reinforced plastic and garners its support from carbon trusses. The material that wraps around the shell of the home extends further out onto the ground, providing a platform for various activities, dining, or even leisurely lounging. In order to maximize space, the doors are automated using hydraulic power. Instead of doors or tradition walls, bedrooms are separated by either curtain dividers or bookshelves. Additionally, the California Roll House features and electronically controlled microclimate, allowing for owners to manipulate the transparency of the glass panels so as to regulate the amount of light allowed in, with modularized skylights providing even more light.
