Political Blogs Not A Big Deal?

Do you read political blogs? In an election year they’re su7pposed to give up to the moment news and opinions and just be unmissable. Well, it seems most people are missing them. A new poll by Harris Interactive has revealed that 56% of Americans never read political blogs.   On top of that, only 22% read them regularly, with another 23% admitting to a glance several times a year.   And in case you think blog reading is the province of the young, it’s mostly older people who delve into political blogs, with over 25% of people 63 and older reading them, followed by the Baby Boomers (44-62) with 23%. Political affiliation didn’t seem to make any big difference.   So why have blogs lost their appeal – after all, they were important in the 2004 election. Harris speculated that they could still make a return once the primaries are over and the run up to November begins in earnest. Or they might simply have lost their novelty appeal. In a statement the company said,   “As the cable news channels all have seen their viewership rise with each passing debate, primary and caucus, maybe political news watchers are leaving the Internet for their political information and going back to television.”
