It used to be that you could get a fridge, a coffee maker, or even a stand mixer in just about any color you wanted, but over the past few years, appliances like these have been losing their colors. Nowadays, the vast majority of manufacturers only offer their products in brushed steel or black — finishes that are most likely to fit the aesthetic of a modern kitchen. Sodastream, however, has gotten bored with this drab color palette, and hopes to bring some color back to your countertop with a new line of retro-inspired fizz machines.
No doubt drawing inspiration from the iconic KitchenAid stand mixer, Sodastream’s new all-metal carbonation stations come in a variety of different colors, including red, green, silver, black, white, tangerine, cobalt, and even aqua. And the retro styling isn’t purely aesthetic either — each machine comes with a manual handle and analog carbonation meter. If on-demand do-it-yourself carbonation machines had been invented a few decades earlier, this thing wouldn’t look out of place in a 1950’s diner.

The machines are currently available exclusively through Bed Bath & Beyond, and sell for 200 bucks apiece. That’s more than double the price of a bare-bones entry-level Sodastream, but given the appliance’s all-metal construction, it stands to reason that this model will last quite a bit longer than one of its plastic counterparts.
