The DT3 – Our top new albums for October 27

Each week the Digital Trends staff selects three albums that we think you should know about. Not in-depth reviews, just passing on some music we like.

Ghostland Observatory – Codename: Rondo

This duo of electro-rockers from Austin is back with their fourth album and the first since 2008’s Robotique Majestique. Frontman Aaron Behrens brings the rock star grit and drummer/producer Thomas Turner brings the catchy, danceable beats.

For fans of: Bassnectar, Daft Punk, Gorillaz

Andrew Bird – Useless Creatures

Indie master-whistler Andrew Bird is now releasing this entirely instrumental album, which was previously only available with the deluxe edition of 2009’s Noble Beast, as its own LP. Anyone who is a fan of Bird or both classical and indie music will enjoy this experimental record.

For fans of: Sufjan Stevens, M. Ward, St. Vincent

Taylor Swift – Speak Now

Country-pop sweetheart Taylor Swift is back with her much anticipated release, Speak Now. The songs are more mature, Swift is almost 21, and now seem to come from real life instead of imagination. The album hits on everything from the Kanye West controversy, a rumored fling with John Mayer, and girlfriends of ex-boyfriends.

For fans of: Demi Lovato, Carrie Underwood, Miley Cyrus

The software plays well with iOS devices, and several other gadgets such as smart lights, smart locks, thermostats, and cameras can be controlled using the fancy technology. If you’re looking to build your smart home around Apple’s ecosystem, here are the best HomeKit devices available today.
Locks

HomeKit doesn’t have the largest selection of smart locks, but that doesn’t really matter when you have something as well-rounded as the Aqara Smart Lock U100. Not only does it offer full HomeKit support, but you’ll even gain access to Apple home keys -- allowing you to unlock your door with your iPhone or Apple Watch. There’s also the standard keypad for entering a passcode, along with a fingerprint sensor that can store several dozen fingerprints (so your whole family can enter the home without worrying about forgetting their password or smartphone).
