First, users download the Ikawa app to their mobile device. The Home Roaster has Bluetooth functionality that allows it to connect to the app, which provides the device with brewing instructions. Once you’ve turned on roaster, it will automatically pair with the app, and the coffee making can commence. Add about two ounces of un-roasted coffee beans to the machine’s doser compartment, then allow the machine to begin preheating. Through its Kickstarter campaign, Ikawa aims to fund the first round of Home Roaster production. The earliest discounts have gone, but you can still get one for about $772. The machine will retail for about $1150.
