This smart mattress that knows if your spouse is cheating on you can’t be real, right?

the smarttress supposedly alerts you if your spouse cheats smart mattress
There are a number of smart mattresses either coming soon or on sale now, but only one supposedly cares as much about your spouse’s cheatin’ heart as your aching back. The Smarttress, from Spanish mattress maker Durmet, claims to be an app-enabled bed that alerts you “whenever someone is using your bed in a questionable way.” It’s not April 1, right?

The mattress apparently has a “lover detection system” that consists of vibration sensors in the springs and a “contact zones detector.” If the bed starts a rockin’, you’ll get a notification on the app, which shows you a speedometer, as well as the intensity in impact per minute. (As you can see in the fairly NSFW video below.) Evidently, you can even see a visualization of where your partner is doin’ it. The bad news? Your spouse is cheating on you. The worse news? Your replacement is friskier in bed than you are.

Durmet was supposedly inspired to create the Smarttress by a survey from the French Institute of Public Opinion and dating site Gleeden that showed Spain’s high rate of infidelity.

So is there any way this is real? I had a hard time finding a website for Durmet, beyond the one for the Smarttress. Its Twitter account only has 108 followers and has been up and running since March. (I give them props for the Dexter’s Laboratory GIF, though.) The only way you can purchase the Smarttress is to send an inquiry email to Durmet, and the company will get back to you “as soon as possible.” Clicking on the buttons that should take you to the app on the Android or Apple store just redirects you to the Smarttress site (though, to be fair, the iOS app is listed as “coming soon”).

I’m not doubting that if you’re creepy as heck you could set up this smart mattress to spy on yourself, but just don’t hold your breath that you’ll be able to see the speed and enthusiasm of your own bedroom antics.

9 things you need to know about in-ceiling smart speakers
Herdio Speakers in a kitchen.

Most of the smart speakers we discuss these days are made to sit on counters, tables, or shelves (and sometimes to be carried around). However, there is another option for those who own their own homes: Ceiling speakers that are installed directly into the ceiling to give you built-in sound exactly where you want it.

If that option sounds interesting, read on to learn about ceiling speakers, what they can do, and why they’re a go-to solution for some smart homes.
Ceiling speakers save on space
Built-in speakers may sound like extra work, but they do have their advantages. Not everyone has room for a smart speaker where they would prefer to listen to music or podcasts. Others may not want a smart speaker set up in the same area they cook or where their children play. In cases like these, in-ceiling speakers stay out of the way while still providing the tunes people want.
These in-ceiling speakers also help with home design
Smart ceiling speakers are also much more customizable than traditional smart speakers. You don’t have to have a level surface nearby to use them. That means they can go anywhere you want to direct sound above or nearby -- an ideal solution for certain dens, home theater setups, playrooms, game rooms, and more. They can also be more easily painted without sacrificing sound quality, so you can make sure that they match the surrounding surface and blend in with the decor.

Amazon Echo Show 15 Smart Display on a wall.

The Amazon Echo Show 15 is currently the largest smart display on the market. At 15-inches on the diagonal, it's a massive device with a lot of functionality packed into its borders. The Echo Show 15 can do everything you expect other Alexa smart displays to do, including controlling your smart home, answering questions, playing games, and more.

But the features don't stop there. The Echo Show 15 has several lesser-known, almost hidden features that make it even more useful than it might seem at first glance.
