Amazon Fire Phone goes on sale yet again for $200 unlocked with 1 year of Prime

5 ways Fire Phone
It’s no surprise that the Amazon Fire Phone flopped when it launched last year, in part because Amazon got the pricing completely wrong. Now that Amazon admitted its error, the company wants to get rid of inventory, and what better way to do so than lowering the price of the unlocked variant to just $200.

When you include the fact that it comes with 1 year of Amazon Prime, which costs $100, you’re getting quite a bit of bang for your buck. The Fire Phone is equipped with a 4-inch, 720p display, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel camera, and 32GB of internal storage. No, these aren’t the latest and greatest specifications, but it packs more than enough power to give you smooth operability.

Keep in mind this is the unlocked version, so it will work with other GSM networks, such as T-Mobile, MetroPCS, and Cricket Wireless, among others. In addition, the unlocked version will net you LTE on T-Mobile bands.

Finally, while it was not possible to sideload the Play Store, as well as other services necessary to run Google apps, onto the Fire Phone before, resourceful people have found a way to do it with the handset’s latest update without rooting the phone. Combined with the previously-mentioned price drop and 1 year of Amazon Prime, purchasing the Fire Phone actually becomes quite the prospect. If you’re interested, you can pick one up on Amazon’s website.

The best Prime Day Amazon device deals still available

Should you buy a new Amazon device in the last-minute Prime Day sales?
Amazon always goes all-out for Prime Day, and that's certainly the case when it comes to slashing prices on its own product lines. That means there really isn't a better time than Prime Day to buy any of these devices. At the most, you can expect to see similar prices for Black Friday, but the markdowns won't be bigger -- and you'll have to wait until November. In any case, after Prime Day ends, Amazon snaps back the deal prices to the full list price -- but that hasn't happened yet in all cases. Typically the prices don't begin to soften again until either a few weeks have passed or another sales event.
