Amazon bids adieu to 2014 with $110 worth of Android apps for free

amazon rings new year 110 worth free apps games
The year 2015 is almost upon us, and there’s no better way to ring in the new year than to legally acquire free apps that you’d normally have to pay for. A whole bunch of paid apps are now available for free, courtesy of Amazon.

If this all seems like deja vu to you, that’s because Amazon just had a big app sale last week. Unlike that sale, however, the deal Amazon has for you today is part of the retail giant’s Free App of the Day Bundle. In other words, you’ll only have until the end of the day to pick up these apps. Thankfully, there are many apps worth getting, including:

  • Alarm Clock Xtreme
  • Calculator Plus
  • AVG AntiVirus PRO Android Security
  • Pho.to Lab PRO
  • Bills Reminder
  • Orrery
  • BuildCalc
  • Xtralogic Remote Desktop Client
  • Distant Suns
  • Food Diary and Calorie Tracker PRO
  • JETFIT Pro
  • Deep Sleep with Andrew Johnson
  • Mini Piano

Not one to leave things out, Amazon is also giving away several free games, which include:

  • Monopoly
  • Angry Birds Star Wars
  • Stack the States
  • Fruit Ninja
  • Riptide GP2
  • Kingdom Rush Frontiers
  • Table Top Racing
  • Sparkle 2 Evo
  • LYNE
  • Clockwork Tales: Of Glass and Ink
  • République
  • Thomas Was Alone
  • Townsmen Premium
  • Alice Trapped in Wonderland
  • Patchworkz
  • Might and Magic Clash of Heroes
  • Garfield’s Escape
  • Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past
  • Buttons and Scissors Pro
  • Azkend 2: The World Beneath

As previously mentioned, these apps and games are only free for today, so if you’re interested in any of Amazon’s offerings, it’d be best to start downloading them now before it’s too late.

The best QR code scanning apps for iPhone and Android in 2023
Best apps for scanning QR codes

While they may not be the all-in-one solution some had envisioned, QR codes are still very popular. It's easy to understand why, too -- just point your camera or scanner at a QR code, and you're transported to a link without needing to painstakingly transcribe the whole address into your browser. As such, it's a great way for brands to easily send you content, terms and conditions, or even competitions. And scanning QR codes is at its best when you're using the best QR code scanning apps.

Scanning a QR code is easy, these days. Most of the time, QR code scanning is built-in to camera apps on iPhone and Android phones, so learning how to scan a QR code is simply a case of pointing your phone's camera at your chosen code. However, those only offer basic features, and if you want more protection from potentially harmful links, or the ability to create QR codes yourself, then you can get that from a third-party app. Here are some of the best QR code scanning apps for iPhone and Android in 2023.
