Report: All four of Apple’s 2020 iPhones will feature OLED displays

Apple may step things up for its iPhone releases later this year. The company is now rumored to release four new iPhone models in the fall — including one 5.4-inch mode, one 6.1-inch model, and one 6.7-inch model. And now, we have a few more details on the new devices, courtesy of Japanese blog Mac Otakara.

According to the blog post, Apple will make some major changes to the iPhone lineup in 2019. Notably, all four of the devices will feature an OLED display, finally doing away with the LCD display that can still be found in the lower-end iPhone 11.

There are other interesting details about the new devices too. According to the report, the 5.4-inch device will sit in between the iPhone SE and iPhone 8 in height, and one of the 6.1-inch models will have a height that is in between the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.

Perhaps most interesting is the largest model, which will have a 6.7-inch display. According to the report, the device will be a considerable 10% thinner than the iPhone 11 Pro Max, and will be slightly taller too. Not only that, but the phone will have slightly larger camera sensors than the iPhone 11 Pro Max too, which could make for better photos than previous-generation models.

Not all the new iPhones will feature camera upgrades. According to the report, two of the four — presumably the most affordable two models — will feature dual-camera arrays almost identical to the current iPhone 11. That’s not necessarily a bad thing — the iPhone 11 features a relatively good camera.

The report doesn’t go into other details concerning new iPhone models. Notably, it doesn’t mention any major design changes that are expected to be a part of the new iPhones, nor does it mention anything about 5G connectivity. Among other rumors, Apple is said to be getting rid of the notch for the iPhone 12, and thanks to its new deal with Qualcomm, it may also finally bring 5G to the iPhone.

As is expected, the report goes on to say that the four iPhone models will be released in September — just like previous years. We’ll have to wait and see exactly what the new iPhone ends up looking like — but these new rumors may give us a slightly better idea.

Hoping to get your hands on an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max when the new phones come out in the fall? Well, you may be in for a wait.

Apple is experiencing production issues caused by a new manufacturing process designed to significantly reduce the size of the bezel around the display, according to a report from The Information on Thursday.

It’s peak summer season, but that also means we’re getting closer to Apple’s fall event in September. This is typically when we expect the next generation of iPhones and Apple Watches.

This year, we’re expecting the iPhone 15 lineup, which should include the standard iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. On top of that, it’s safe to say that we should also see the Apple Watch Series 9, but whether we’re getting a second-generation Apple Watch Ultra is still up in the air. And new AirPods? Who knows! Regardless, it will be exciting and jam-packed with a ton of new products.
