Apple may host iPad event on October 21

Apple just held one of the biggest tech events of the year last week when it introduced the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple Watch. The company will also debut iOS 8 on September 17. That may sound like more than enough for one year, but it seems that Apple’s not done yet. A new report hints that the company will introduce two new iPad models and OS X Yosemite at an October 21 event.

The report comes from the The Daily Dot, which claims to have heard about the event from anonymous sources who are familiar with Apple’s plans. Last year, Apple held its iPad event on October 22, so if the company is sticking with tradition, it seems likely that the Dot’s claim will prove true.

The report only mentions two iPad models for the October 21 event, which are most likely the updated iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina display. However, that doesn’t mean that Apple’s alleged plans for a larger, 12.9-inch iPad Pro are out of the picture. Earlier reports pegged that device for a 2015 launch, so we may have to wait a while longer to see a massive iPad.

As for the computing part of the event’s program, Apple already revealed OS X Yosemite at WWDC 2014 this past June, so very few features remain a mystery. The new operating system for Mac and Macbooks will most likely be available to all after the October 21 event concludes.

It's a great introduction to tablets if you want something iPadOS based without spending a lot.
