We might know the release day for Apple’s new iPad mini
The iPad Mini and Apple pencil work very well together.

The wait for a new iPad mini is nearly over. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, a next-generation model should be announced and launched in the coming weeks. This will end a long, three-year wait for a fresh iPad mini. Gurman says the seventh-generation iPad mini 7 could ship on Friday, November 1, after an announcement toward the end of this month.

Little is known about the new iPad mini, although we can probably make some educated guesses. The device will most likely feature an Apple M2 chip, the same one found in the iPad Air (2024). The new tablet could also come with a 12MP ultrawide camera in landscape orientation, provide support for the Apple Pencil Pro, and bring various other improvements.

For many years, Apple has been committed to replacing third-party parts in its products with those it manufactures itself. A notable instance is when Apple moved away from Intel-based processors for its Macs and replaced them with in-house Apple M series chips. It now appears that more Apple-made parts may be incorporated into some of its mobile products as soon as next year.

According to DigiTimes, Apple plans to use its own Wi-Fi chips in the 2025 iPads and the following year's iPhone 18 series. The upcoming iPhone SE 4 could also be the first iPhone equipped with an Apple-branded 5G chip, with the iPhone 17 series expected to follow suit later in the same year.

September 2021 is when the current iPad mini was released. Since then, two generations of iPad Air and iPad Pro models have been launched, as well as one regular iPad. In other words, it’s been a long time since Apple showed some love for its smallest tablet.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, that “could” soon change. The reason for the optimism is the low stock for several of the current iPad mini configurations and, of course, knowing that it's been almost three years since the last refresh.
