In what’s becoming a trend, Archos unveiled its upcoming lineup of smartphones before Mobile World Congress officially starts on March 2. As customary with the company’s previous offerings, all of its upcoming smartphones carry budget price tags.

First up is the 50 Oxygen Plus, powered by an octa-core 1.4GHz Mediatek processor coupled with 1GB of RAM, all backed up by a Mali 450MP4. It packs a 5-inch 1280 x 720 pixel display that shows Android 4.4 KitKat in all its glory. While it’s unknown whether this 3G version will be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop in the future, there will be a 4G LTE version of the 50 Oxygen Plus that will come with Lollipop out of the box.

The 50 Oxygen Plus is equipped with a dual SIM card setup. Interestingly, while the primary slot is used for Micro SIM cards, the second slot can be used for either Nano SIM cards or MicroSD cards up to 128GB in storage. It’ll need all the storage it can, since the handset only comes with 16GB of built-in storage, which can be used for pictures taken with the 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel selfie camera.

The 3G variant of the 50 Oxygen Plus will be available this March for less than $200, while the 4G LTE version will arrive this June.

Moving on to the trifecta that is the 52 Platinum, 59 Xenon, and 62 Xenon. They all pack the same 1.3GHz quad-core Mediatek processor and 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and MicroSD card slot for expandable storage. Even though each of them come with the same rear 8-megapixel camera, the 52 Platinum and 59 Xenon come with a 2-megapixel selfie camera while the 62 Xenon rocks a 5-megapixel front shooter.

Each of the three runs Android 4.4 KitKat shown on the same 1,280 x 720 displays, though screen size differs between the three; the 52 Platinum is equipped with a 5.25-inch screen, with the 59 Xenon and 62 Xenon equipped with 5.9-inch and 6.27-inch screens, respectively.

The 52 Platinum, 59 Xenon, and 62 Xenon will be available sometime in the near future for $145, $158, and $170, respectively.

Google’s Android 12 Go Edition will make budget phones faster in 2022
Three phone screens showing the new Android 12 Go Edition.

Whether you like them or not, there is no getting around the fact that affordable, cheap Android smartphones are here to stay and will probably remain the most common devices on the market. Because these phones sell for really affordable prices, the sheer volume this segment represents is simply too hard to ignore. So hard, in fact, that Google, in 2017, started the Android Go project, which led to the creation of a special, toned-down version of Android bearing the same name.

Earlier today, Google announced major updates to the upcoming version of Android Go based on Android 12. This version -- unsurprisingly called Android 12 Go Edition -- will roll out to millions of affordable smartphone owners in 2022.

Your Android 10 smartphone may not be able to call 911 if you use Microsoft Teams

Two weeks ago, a Google Pixel 3 user made a Reddit post detailing a potentially critical bug that prevented him from making a 911 call. Now, Google confirmed that they were able to reproduce the issue on "a small number of devices," implying that the problem is more widespread than initially thought.

Google’s investigation revealed that the issue only manifests if users install Microsoft Teams on devices running Android 10 and above. Also, the issue seemingly occurs when users have installed Microsoft Teams but have chosen not to log in. The company blamed the issue on an "unintended interaction between the Microsoft Teams app and the underlying Android operating system" while adding that they are working with Microsoft to issue a fix.

How to use your Android smartphone to stream Xbox games
how to set up ps4 remote play on ios and android xbox game streaming with controller

Ask anyone which they prefer in the "Android vs. iOS" battle, and the answer is likely to be a passionate one. That's for a good reason, of course, since both platforms have a lot to offer supporters, and crucially, don't always get the same apps, games, and features. Android, however, has a particularly large feather in its cap: The ability to stream and play Xbox games through the internet, with no console required.

Android users, with a little help from a handy Bluetooth controller, are able to play Xbox games through the wonders of cloud gaming. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and Note 20 got early access to the service, and with their large screens and powerful hardware, they're a perfect fit for the cloud gaming experience. But they're not the only Android devices that can play Xbox games. Here's how you can play Xbox games on your Android smartphone.
