AT&T and wireless TV provider MobiTV on Wednesday announced plans to make 15 channels of television programming available across AT&T’s nationwide Wi-Fi network. The service will be available for $11.99 per month or $5.99 per 24-hour viewing session.
This new service, said the two companies, will offer TV channels which span national news, sports, entertainment and full-length music videos from top artists. The basic 15 channels will initially be available to through AT&T nearly 7,000 owned and operated Wi-Fi hot spots in locations like coffee shops and bookstores, with plans to add additional premium television channels later this year.
“Television viewing has moved beyond the TV set and we’re making it easier for consumers to get great entertainment through AT&T broadband services, including AT&T Wi-Fi hot spots,” said Kieran Nolan, vice president, AT&T Broadband, in a statement. “This agreement helps enable compelling content for customers interested in a digital lifestyle.”
