ATT to bring NFL football to your phone

Motorola, the NFL and AT&T Wireless announced the kick-off of the 2004 Pro Bowl Balloting program featuring a new way for fans to vote, via AT&T Wireless text messaging. Through the“TEXTDown” promotion, fans can now place votes for their favorite players in the quarterback, running back, wide receiver, defensive end, outside linebacker and cornerback positions simply by textmessaging with their Motorola handset and AT&T Wireless service.

Using a Motorola or other text messaging capable handset with AT&T Wireless service, fans can text in their Pro Bowl votes by simply sending the player code indicated on the Pro Bowl Ballot via the text messaging capability of their handset. Fans can vote as many times as they like via text messaging or while visiting select AT&T Wireless stores across the country where paper ballots will be available. For a complete Pro Bowl ballot, fans can go to NFL.com.

“Motorola is bringing fans closer to the game by making it easier for them to choose who goes to the Pro Bowl via wireless text messaging,” said Jason Few, VP of Marketing for Motorola PCS North America. “NFL fans can already access sports scores, player stats and even customize their Motorola handset with their favorite team’s faceplate. The “TEXTdown” promotion offers a new way for people to engage with their favorite team and their favorite sport.”

“Our Pro Bowl “TEXTdown” initiative is another strong example of how AT&T Wireless continues to bring wireless entertainment into play to further engage and involve sports fans,” said Glenice Maclellan, vice president of messaging for AT&T Wireless Mobile Multimedia Services. “The power of text messaging is again demonstrated this season, as football fans can now easily ‘get in the game’ while cheering from the sidelines.”

Pro Bowl balloting via text messaging, in-store and online runs through November 30th.

All fans voting at AT&T Wireless stores or via their Text Messaging service will be automatically entered for a chance to win one of four trips for two to the Pro Bowl in Motorola’s “Hawaiian Vacation” sweepstakes. Each prize includes special access opportunities for the winners at the 2004 Pro Bowl as well as game tickets and travel accommodations. No purchase is necessary. Normal text messaging charges will apply.

Fans who visit a participating AT&T Wireless stores will also have the chance to benefit from rebates on the latest Motorola phones. Starting November 2, 2003 and running through January 3, 2004, consumers can receive a $25 instant rebate and a $75 mail-in rebate when they purchase the Motorola V60I (more information is available at your local AT&T Wireless store). Consumers can also check out the latest handsets from Motorola including the color-screen Motorola T721 and the model MPX200.

Lenovo Tab M10 on a stone surface.

If you're looking for cheap tablet deals, Lenovo is a good place to check out. Right now, you can buy the Lenovo Tab M9 tablet for $120, saving you $30 off the regular price of $150. A good discount on an already well-priced tablet, it's the ideal accompaniment on your travels or simply when you need something larger than your phone on the couch. Sure to sell out soon, let's take a quick look at what it offers.

Why you should buy the Lenovo Tab M9
Lenovo makes some of the best Android tablets around and while this one doesn't feature in our roundup, it's still worth considering. It has a MediaTek Helio G80 processor along with 4GB of memory and 64GB of eMMC storage. While it won't be as fast as some of the best tablets, it's still more than capable if you want to browse the internet, play some casual games, or watch your favorite shows. It's a good device for handing over to the kids during a long journey too.

I used Motorola and Samsung folding phones. Only one gets this feature right
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Motorola Razr Plus folded in hand.

Software plays a crucial role in any device, but it becomes even more important when you have a limited amount of screen space to interact with the user interface. The Motorola Razr series has always been better than the Galaxy Z Flip lineup in terms of usability when folded. This year, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 5 closes the gap between the two clamshell foldables by offering a big cover screen.

But sporting a big outer display doesn’t immediately make a flip phone foldable a whole lot more useful; case in point – the Oppo Find N2 Flip, where Oppo gave us six widgets (and added a couple more later) to play around with and called it a day. While Samsung brings 13 widgets to the table, the cover screen software is still not on par with the Motorola Razr Plus.

How one bad decision is ruining all of Samsung’s new phones
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 in cream, blue, and black.

This summer’s Galaxy Unpacked event was the usual great fun. We got a new Galaxy Z Fold 5 with an improved hinge and more powerful chip, plus the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with a cover screen that’s large enough to see what’s going on. These were joined by the return of a much-loved design in the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, with some refinements to make it even more classy, plus a standard Galaxy Watch 6 and a full new lineup of Samsung tablets.

However, Samsung’s latest product lineup also confirms the road I’ve feared the South Korean gadget maker has been on for at least a few months now. Samsung is getting more serious and less fun and whimsical in its product designs, especially when it comes to color choices.
