In an effort to boost sales of its Nook range of e-readers, book giant Barnes & Noble is offering free books worth $100 to those who purchase the device before September 12.
Aimed at students but open to everyone, the offer includes 12 free classics, such as Crime and Punishment and A Tale of Two Cities (hang on, can’t you already get these titles for free?).
Other titles wrapped up in the deal include Sparks Notes study guides for the likes of To Kill a Mockingbird, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and One Hundred Years of Solitude.
And for those who were wondering how to win at college, you’ll be able to pick up a few tips from Nook Study’s 50 Survival Tips: How to Win at College.
“But how on earth will I know how to live up a semester abroad?” I hear you cry. Don’t worry, there’s a book for that too: Nook Study’s 25 Tips for Living Up a Semester Abroad. So, all bases covered.
And just in case you’re feeling that 27 free books doesn’t quite seal the deal, Barnes & Noble have thrown four Nook Color apps (Fliq Notes, Fliq Tasks, Nook Word of the Day and Pulse) into the bargain bucket as well. Oh, wait, can’t they be had for free too?
To qualify for the offer, you’ll need to buy an All-New Nook or Nook Color before September 12 and register it by October 31. You’ll then receive an email with an access code enabling you to download the free content.
Students are a growing market for e-reader makers and Barnes & Noble will be hoping the deal proves attractive enough to tempt the young scholars away from Amazon’s Kindle offerings.
Those returning to school might also be interested to know that you can rent e-textbooks too, which could leave you with a few extra bucks for a beverage at the bar.
