Google Fabric Case

This case comes directly from Google, and it has an eye-catching design as well as an eco-friendly focus. Google’s Pixel 4a 5G case is made from 70% recycled material, including material from recycled water bottles. The case has a slim profile with raised bezels to protect your screen, and it comes in four color variants: Chili Flakes (red), Blue Confetti, Static Gray, and Basically Black. The cases look like denim, and they are machine washable, which helps with the long-standing problem of cases becoming dirty over time.

All of that comes at a price of $40. It’s a little on the pricier side, but you get the assurance that the case has a minimal environmental impact. Being machine washable is also great since people are becoming more aware of how dirty their devices really get. Plus, they just look pretty cool.

OtterBox Commuter">OtterBox Commuter

OtterBox is one of the top case manufacturers around, and for good reason. It makes some of the most durable and reliable cases you can buy, and its popular Commuter cases offer the same durability with a much slimmer profile. A lot of heavy-duty cases are too thick to work with wireless charging, but the Commuter works fine with any wireless charger, so you don’t have to worry about relying on cables to charge your phone while this case is clipped on. The new Commuter cases also have antimicrobial technology that keeps the phone clean and germ-free. Lastly, the Commuter comes with port covers to keep dirt and water out. If you’re looking for rugged protection in a relatively thin profile, we definitely recommend the OtterBox Commuter.

Spigen Liquid Air">Spigen Liquid Air

If you’re looking for a no-nonsense case that is thin and light, the Spigen Liquid Air is the case for you. It’s a thin TPU case that will absorb damage from drops without overly contributing to the phone’s bulk. It has a cross-hatch pattern on the back that gives it a little texture so it doesn’t slip out of your hand. It fits snugly against the phone, and since it’s so thin, it also works well with wireless charging. For $15, it’s a solid deal.

Ghostek Atomic Slim Case

Ghostek’s Atomic Slim Case is one of the best ways of combining brawn and beauty. It features a dual-layer design that combines an inner TPU skin with durable aluminum, while also throwing in shock-absorbent corners for good measure. This enables it to withstand drops of up to 12 feet, more than enough for it to pass military-grade standards. Its borders offer anti-slip grip, so it doesn’t accidentally fall out of your hands, while the raised lips protect the Pixel 4a 5G’s screen. With the transparent back, it also looks very fetching, and the wireless charging compatibility is also another welcome bonus.

Caseology Parallax">Caseology Parallax

Caseology’s Parallax case offers a unique style while still offering the same thin and durable build quality of its competitors. It’s dual-layered, which offers military-grade protection against drops and falls. The Parallax also has an eye-catching geometric pattern on the back, which also provides a nice bit of texture. The bumpers use air space technology to help absorb impacts, and the case has a raised lip around the screen and camera bump to help prevent scratching. The Parallax also comes in three colors: Navy blue, burgundy, and aqua green. All of this adds up to a case that combines flair with quality protection.

Speck Presidio ExoTech Case

This is another case that proves you don’t need to strain your wrist to have military-standard durability. It’s only a single layer of TPU, yet it has been drop-tested to provide a high level of protection and scratch resistance, so you can rest assured that it will keep your Pixel safe. Its coating includes Microban, which limits bacteria growth by 99%, although that obviously doesn’t mean you can stop washing your hands. The case is also very thin and lightweight, so it won’t be something you’ll have difficulty getting in and out of your pocket.

Bellroy Leather Case

Google has several cases available for the Pixel 4a 5G available on their website. Perhaps one of the most aesthetically pleasing is the Bellroy leather case. The Bellroy has a super-slim profile and fits snugly against the Pixel, and it hardly feels like there is a case there at all. The case comes in three colors: Black, green, and orange. The leather also gives the phone a premium feel in the hand, and it’s smooth without being slippery. The case is made from gold-rated LWG tannery leather, which is meant to feel good and last for a long time. If giving your phone a luxurious look and feel is important, Bellroy’s leather case is an excellent option.

Pela Compostable Phone Case

Google is putting more emphasis on sustainability, and that’s reflecting in the companies it partners with to provide accessories. Pela is an interesting case maker because all of its cases are biodegradable, so they won’t be around for decades after you throw the case away. Pela’s cases are made with compostable bioplastic and Canadian prairie flax straw. The result is a surprisingly soft case with a matte textured grip. The Pela comes with two colors. Honey Bee is yellow and has a honeycomb pattern and bees. Green is a simpler look but looks just as nice as Honey Bee. If you want something that is environmentally friendly that will make your phone stand out, Pela’s cases are some of the most unique you can get.

Crave Dual Guard Protection Series Case

This is a very neat and tidy case that will also guard your Pixel 4a 5G against most damage. It comprises a dual-layer mix of high-grade PC and flexible TPU, which together help to disperse impacts away from the phone’s actual body. The case’s outer layer also has a comfortable rubberized texture, so your chances of dropping it accidentally are fairly marginal. As the image above shows, it’s very slim and light, hugging the form of the Pixel to make things practical for you. It also includes all of the necessary cutouts and buttons, including for the Pixel 4a 5G’s fingerprint scanner.

LifeProof Wake Case

LifeProof is another name brand in rugged protection, and now it’s trying to become the leader in phone case sustainability. Its Wake case is made from 85% ocean-based recycled plastic from salvaged fishing gear. Over the long-term, that will have a major impact on ocean plastics, which have a huge toll on the ocean’s ecosystems. LifeProof also donates money for every case purchased to water-conscious non-profits to make a further impact. In terms of design, it has a sweet sculpted wave pattern and comes in either black or a lavender-like sea urchin color. For a phone case that looks great and goes toward a good cause, the LifeProof Wake is definitely a case to check out.

Olixar Leather-Style Wallet Stand Case

Yes, some of us have just got to have a chic leather wallet case for our phones, and this item from Olixar fits the bill very well. It combines a synthetic leather outer layer with a softer microfiber interior and inner plastic frame, so even if it lacks the air cushions and bumpers of some cases, it will still do a very good job of armoring your phone. Aside from looking fashionable, it also includes a couple of slots for cards or cash, so you can jettison your wallet if a few cards are all you need. The case can also be used as a stand for the Pixel, while the front cover means that the phone’s screen will be protected.

Anccer Colorful">Anccer Colorful

A lot of people forgo cases on their devices because they don’t like the added weight and thickness. Even cases that promote how slim they are add a substantial amount to the phone. If you are looking to keep your phone close to the device’s original size, consider Anccer’s Colorful cases. These cases are some of the thinnest available on the market, making a bare-like experience that still feels thin and comfortable in your hand. The Colorful series comes in black, blue, and rose gold, and the latter two really add some pop to the overall look of the phone.

Case-Mate Eco94">Case-Mate Eco94

Case-Mate has been making phone cases for several years, and the Eco94 for the Pixel 4a 5G is one of its attempts to make an eco-friendly clear phone case. In collaboration with The Nature Conservancy and Plant a Billion Trees, it aims for the Eco94 to be “a case for nature.” The Eco94 is made from plants, which helps reduce greenhouse emissions during production and will likely reduce the phone’s carbon footprint overall. The bioplastic case also has an anti-scratch coating, which makes it glossy and looking like-new for a long time to come. The phone is also backed by a lifetime warranty, so if anything goes wrong, you’re covered.

Moment Thin Photography Case

When you think about phone cases, you don’t really think about one specifically for mobile photographers. However, the Moment case for the Pixel 4a 5G is just that: A case for shutterbugs. It has the same solid rubberized protection of other rugged cases, but that isn’t really the selling point of this case. The case has a unique lens interface that works with Moment’s third-party lenses (sold separately). Basically, you can attach a Moment lens to the case to get more out of the Pixel 4a 5G’s camera. The bottom also includes a strap attachment so you can take pictures one-handed without worrying about dropping it. It’s also made of compostable bioplastics, so you don’t have to worry about the case’s long-term environmental impact.

A render of the front and back of the Moto G Stylus 5G (2024).

If you have your heart set on a phone with a stylus, you’re probably familiar with Samsung devices like the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the previous Galaxy S23 Ultra. But there is another company out there that ships phones with a stylus — Motorola. Unlike Samsung’s flagship, the new Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) won’t break the bank thanks to its $400 starting price in the U.S.

The Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) is the latest in a series of midrange stylus-equipped phones that Motorola started releasing in 2020. The latest model keeps up with its predecessors with solid midrange capabilities and, as the name indicates, support for 5G.
