The super-sized Nexus 6 smartphone is a beauty, and comes with the latest Android Lollipop software installed, but the slippery device can be a little tricky to hold. Bad things could happen if it connects sharply with the sidewalk, when any accumulated fluff from your pocket over the body will be the least of your problems. Why take the risk? We’ve gathered some of the best Nexus 6 cases currently on the market, so you can wrap your smartphone up in a protective layer, and help avoid any unfortunate mishaps.
Case-Mate Stand Folio Case ($40)
Available direct from the Play Store, this folio case doubles up as a secure landscape stand. The Nexus 6 sits in a minimal plastic shell that covers the corners, and the fake leather cover opens like a book to reveal a soft, microfiber lining with a couple of handy pockets for credit cards or ID. Fold it back and you can prop the Nexus 6 up at an angle. The ports are fully accessible, there’s a large cut-out for the camera, and openings on the front of the case for the dual speakers.

Urban Armor Gear Maverick Case ($40)
Boasting military drop test standards 810G 516.6, you’ll be hard pressed to find a tougher case for the Nexus 6 on the market right now. UAG’s unusual, industrial style is angular and practical, but still surprisingly attractive. The shell is tough on the outside, yet soft on the inside, ready to take the sting out of any impacts. The case makes the phone easier to grip, and it even has skid pads on the back to prevent the Nexus 6 sliding about when you put it down. Large tactile buttons and precise openings make operating your Nexus 6 easy.

Cruzerlite Bugdroid Circuit Case ($10)
You can rely on Cruzerlite to release a basic, budget-friendly TPU case for virtually every new Android smartphone that hits the market. This is a fairly robust case, but it’s flexible enough to make fitting easy. There are openings for the ports, camera, and one which shows that big Motorola “M” logo. The circuit design and Android mascot make it visually interesting, and you can also choose from 11 different colors, all slightly translucent.

Spigen Slim Armor Case ($18)
Planning to watch some movies on that 6-inch display? Of course you are, so you’ll find the kickstand on Spigen’s Slim Armor case very handy for propping the phone in landscape view. The case uses both polycarbonate and malleable TPU in its construction to protect your Nexus 6 from harm. There’s a raised lip on the front to safeguard the touchscreen and cut-outs for the camera, ports, and logo. Unfortunately the button covers make the volume and power keys a little difficult to find. The polycarbonate kickstand is also pretty loose and gets detached easily.

Diztronic TPU Case ($10)
If you want basic protection and your budget is ten bucks, then Diztronic’s matte black case is a nice alternative to Cruzerlite’s offerings. It’s just about as plain as they come with an unobtrusive logo on the side providing the only visual interest. It’s a TPU case so it’s easy to put on and it will do a good job at absorbing most impacts. The cut-outs are all present and correct, you can feel the button covers, and there’s a raised lip to keep the touchscreen safe from scratches.

Rearth Ringke Fusion Case ($12)
Offering a fusion of TPU cushioning around the frame and tough, anti-scratch polycarbonate on the back, this is a strong case that also manages to be quite stylish. The clear version is completely transparent, or you can opt for a touch of mint or smoke color in the bumper. There are bezels to protect the screen and the camera, large button covers, and protective dust caps to cover the ports. The indentation on the back highlights the Motorola and Nexus logos. For all-round coverage this case comes with a screen protector.

Tudia Ultra Slim Case ($10)
Here’s another cheap, malleable TPU case for the Nexus 6. This time it has a soft touch, matte finish on the rear, with two cool, glossy strips running across the top and bottom. We think it looks great. There are cut-outs for the camera, Motorola logo, and all the ports, plus the raised button covers are easy to use. It’s a very simple case, providing basic protection, and comes in purple, black, teal, or clear varieties.
Available at:
i-Blason Case with Holster ($13)
This case comes in three pieces – you get a soft silicone inner, a polycarbonate exoskeleton, and a separate holster with a belt clip. Once safely inside, the i-Blason will ensure the Nexus 6 is completely protected. Despite the all-over coverage, there are cut-outs for the ports and camera, but the button covers are fairly small. The kickstand is secure and works well for landscape viewing. The raised bevel on the front edge helps to protect the screen. The case easily slides into the holster shell, and can swivel around 180 degrees. There are red and blue varieties, but the all black version is cheaper. It’s a chunky option, but it represents good value for money.

Verus Wallet Case ($20)
You may have guessed from the price, but unfortunately, the Verus isn’t made of leather. Instead, it’s made of tough, but not so classy polyurethane. It does a good job of looking like leather, thanks to the stitching. Open it up and there are three slots and a big money pocket, so it could also replace your wallet while protecting your Nexus 6. You can fold the cover back to use it as a landscape stand, and a clever folding magnetic closure ensures it stays shut. Finally, the inside of the case is made from polycarbonate, so it’s tough.

Case-Mate Naked Tough Case ($35)
If you don’t want to cover up the design of your Nexus 6 then a completely transparent case could be the answer. This one from Case-Mate combines a hard shell with a flexible bumper to absorb shocks, keeping your Nexus 6 unscathed. It has a large, hinged kickstand on the back for landscape viewing. The cut-outs are precise and there’s a big opening on the back for the camera and the Motorola logo. The volume and power buttons have cool chrome covers, giving the case a little premium touch.
