Unlock your phone with Care Bears thanks to a cuddly new lock screen app

If unlocking your smartphone with a pattern or password has become too mundane, prepare yourself for a dose of serious adorability (or at least, absurdity). IconLogin has launched the Care Bears Lock Screen App for Android users, a picture-based password app that features the iconic Care Bears as the guardians of your phone. Sure, they may not be the security team of your dreams, but when it comes to locking up your smartphone, they can probably get the job done.

The Care Bears Lock Screen gives fans the opportunity to use images of their favorite Care Bear characters in place of a numerical keypad, code, or pattern. Not only are images easier to remember than numbers, but IconLogin also suggests that this method is more secure as well. Because pictures appear in a different order each time (rather than adopting a static layout), the contents of your phone will be kept safer than ever.

“Our Care Bears Lock Screen turns the everyday act of unlocking a phone into something visual and fun,” said Schehrezade Davidson, CEO of IconLogin. “Picture Passwords are easy to use and remember, and they are difficult for an unauthorized user to guess.”

When users first download the app, they will be greeted by a free “Care-moji” keypad of 12 Care Bears images. From here, simply choose your Picture Password sequence using four of those images. Every time you try to unlock your phone, you’ll be presented with the same 12 “Care-moji” images, but always in a randomized order. When you’ve chosen the correct four emojis in the same order, your device will be unlocked.

“We make it a priority to collaborate with innovative new partners for Care Bears apps,” said Megan Buettner, Head of Creative & Digital for American Greetings Entertainment. “The functionality of this app is new for the brand, while the overall look and feel brings a new approach to the Care Bears.”

The app is free for Android users and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, complete with “Care-moji” keypad.

Before you head to the app store on your phone to buy a voice-recording app, take a moment to consider the apps that may already be installed on your phone. Why? In my experience, they're likely all you really need. I’ve recorded interviews and voice-overs for work for years, and I’ve found the two best examples come preinstalled on your phone already, so they’re entirely free to use.

Google Pixel Tablet on its charging dock.

Tablets are a dime-a-dozen these days, with offerings from all the great brands including Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, and more. So, if you really want to stand out in a sea of similar tech, you need to do things a little differently. That's what Google's Pixel Tablet offers. How? It comes with a unique speaker dock that can be used to both charge the device and offer room-filling sound -- almost like a smart speaker add-on. Better yet, when your Pixel Tablet is docked it benefits from the Hub Mode, turning the device into a smart display, with digital photo frame support, smart home controls, and hands-free Google functionality. Of course, it could set you back at full price, normally $499 unless you find it included in a roundup of the best Google Pixel deals. Well, guess what? Thanks to a Best Buy Google Pixel Tablet deal, you can get it today for $439 and save $60. Hurry, though, it's part of Best Buy's recent 48-hour sale so it won't stick around for long.

Why you should buy the Google Pixel Tablet
Okay, okay, so in our Google Pixel Tablet review, Joe Maring did give it less than stellar remarks, but he called out its reliable fingerprint sensor, comfortability during use and excellent speaker dock. Honestly, how many tablets come with a matching speaker dock that transforms the entire experience? This tablet also marks a "lot of firsts" for Google, as it's the first tablet from the company in nearly five years, the first Android tablet in eight years, and can be converted into a smart home display with the speaker dock. All of which are notable milestones.
