Established cellular phone company Nokia was busy at CES 2006 showcasing a wide array of products which had been recently announced. Specific to the trade show in early January came word of three new Bluetooth headsets as well as two new mobile phones.
Nokia’s new phones are the Nokia 6102i and Nokia 6103. Both phones, which have planned releases in the first quarter of this year, will be available as a GSM 850/1800/1900 version in the States. Both add Bluetooth technology to their feature set as they build upon the Nokia 6101 and Nokia 6102 phones. Other features in common on these two handsets include a VGA camera with dedicated camera key, quick touch audio message sending, dual color screens, voice dialing, integrated FM radio and support for MIDI and MP3 ring tones.
Nokia’s new Bluetooth headsets are the Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-800 ($140 – first quarter availability), Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-900 ($100 – second quarter availability) and the Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-200 ($55 – first quarter availability). The BH-800 is tiny, weighing only 9 grams, available in coffee black or silver white and incorporates an optional, removable ear loop for use in either ear. It has a talk time of up to six hours and is Nokia’s first headset with Bluetooth specification 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate.
The BH-900 has an ergonomic ear hook, a talk time of eight hours and offers both noise reduction and echo cancellation sound features. The BH-200 is the most basic, weighing 14 grams and offering over five hours of talk time.
