Cricket Wireless offers two Samsung Galaxy Amp handsets for bargain hunters

For those looking to experience Android 6.0 Marshmallow without having to pay an arm and a leg, Cricket Wireless recently announced the Samsung Galaxy Amp Prime and Galaxy Amp 2.

Starting with the Galaxy Amp Prime, the handset features a 5-inch Super AMOLED display, with a 5-megapixel camera that sits above the panel. Selfie lovers can take advantage of a hand gesture to take selfies without the need to reach for the camera shutter button. The Galaxy Amp Prime also includes features you’ll find in other Samsung handsets, such as Easy Mode — this offers a simplified interface compared to stock — and Ultra Power Savings Mode, which significantly extends the battery life by supporting only the phone’s most basic functions.

Moving on to the smaller Galaxy Amp 2, this handset shrinks the screen to 4.5 inches while keeping it a Super AMOLED panel, which offers richer contrast and deeper blacks than your typical IPS display. In addition, the Galaxy Amp 2 includes the same feature set as its larger sibling.

What makes both the Galaxy Amp Prime and Galaxy Amp 2 intriguing are their prices: $150 and $100, respectively — solid price points for those looking to save where they can. Given that both handsets are being marketed to social media fiends who are looking for a bargain, this comes as no surprise. What does come as a surprise is that Android 6.0 Marshmallow runs on both smartphones, Google’s latest mobile operating system which has mostly been found in the upper echelon of smartphones.

If you want to pick up either the Galaxy Amp Prime or the Galaxy Amp 2, the former is currently available for purchase while the latter will be available for purchase on April 15. The pair of handsets will be available both online and in physical Cricket Wireless stores.

samsung cancel galaxy s22 fe fan edition rumor s21

Samsung is reportedly working on a new Galaxy S23 Fan Edition (FE) phone after skipping a similar phone for the S22 series. According to reports, the company is expected to debut it with the older Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor rather than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor that ships with the other Galaxy S23 devices.

Samsung had typically used the same processor for the Fan edition phones as the mainline models, but has opted to cut costs with materials instead.
