Pencil is perhaps the best iPad stylus ever made and now it’s finally on sale in select European countries. FiftyThree launched Pencil as a stylus companion for its incredibly popular drawing and note-taking app Paper nearly a year ago. Up until now, the incredible stylus was only available in the United States and Canada.
FiftyThree announced today that would-be customers in Germany, the U.K., and France can purchase Pencil on Amazon. The company offers two different versions of its carpenter pencil inspired stylus. The cheaper version is encased in brushed, black aluminum called Graphite, which costs £50 or €76. The more premium and undoubtedly gorgeous Walnut version sells for £65 or €87 and is made of natural walnut hardwood.
Pencil may not be cheap, but it is one of the best iPad styli money can buy. Pencil also includes the full set of drawing tools for the company’s very popular app Paper, which are normally available as in-app purchases, amounting to almost $10.
In our review of the best iPad styli, we named Pencil one of the most durable, attractive, and useful styli for those who like to draw. Its premium design and solid build quality make it feel like a real pencil instead of just another stylus. Pencil also comes with several interesting features that few styli have like palm rejection, blending capabilities, and an eraser on the end. It’s also remarkably easy to use once you pair it via Bluetooth and it charges via USB in just 90 minutes.
Additionally, with the release of iOS 8 this fall, Pencil users will benefit from surface pressure, a new feature that will allow for more natural drawing and open a whole new world of possibilities. Users will be able to vary the thickness of lines, change tool functions, and increase the darkness of lines, simply by using a different part of Pencil’s triangular tip. When it comes to drawing on an iPad, Pencil and Paper are your best options.
