Samsung’s surprisingly classy Rose Gold Galaxy Note 3 is headed to Verizon

In early December last year, Samsung decided the Galaxy Note 3 needed tarting up, so it added two golden hued models to the range. Named Rose Gold White and Rose Gold Black, they turned out to be far less hideous than expected. In fact, the Rose Gold White could almost be described as classy.

However, at the time Samsung didn’t mention when or where either of these gold models would be sold. The gold Galaxy S4 had a limited release, so we didn’t really expect its larger cousin to be treated much differently. It turns out Samsung has been eagerly shopping the golden Note 3 around, and Verizon has decided to stock it in the near future.

While the network hasn’t provided any details yet, a look at Samsung’s media resources webpage shows it will be exclusively selling the Rose Gold White device. If the images are anything to go by, only the white model will be stocked, and not the more gaudy Rose Gold Black Note 3. We think it’s a wise choice.

Aside from the color, the new Note 3 model has the same specifications as Verizon’s current solid black device. This means it has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1080p resolution, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, and at the moment, Android 4.3 installed. An update to Android 4.4 has been released, but Samsung’s blurb indicates the gold phone won’t come with it pre-installed, so new owners will just have to be patient.

We doubt the price will alter, so expect to pay $300 for the Rose Gold Note 3 with a two-year contract, or a whopping $700 if you choose the month-to-month option. Verizon hasn’t confirmed when the phone will go on sale, but we’ll update here when it does. In the meantime, you can read our review of the Galaxy Note 3 here.

Samsung may have a bad surprise for the Galaxy Z Flip 6
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6

Recently, there has been much news about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, including leaks of the likely spec sheets for each. These leaks align with earlier ones, indicating no significant surprises — except for a noteworthy detail about the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

According to leaks, this year's Galaxy Z Flip will feature an IPS LCD panel for its cover screen, whereas last year's Galaxy Z Flip 5 had an AMOLED panel. This change is surprising because AMOLED is generally considered better than IPS LCD — offering improved colors and deeper blacks.
