Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab 4 line gets thinner and lighter across 3 sizes

Even though Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Pro and Galaxy Note Pro tablets are already available, they’re aimed at professional users. For those who don’t need such a high-end product, Samsung’s recently announced Tab 4 line is for you.

Composed of three sizes — the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, the 8-inch Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, and the 10-inch Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 — the Tab 4 will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor that is coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. The display, which is a 1,200 x 800 pixel LCD, will show Android 4.4 KitKat in all its glory, though Samsung’s typical TouchWiz interface is also present.

A 3-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera are on each Tab 4 model, and while you will surely be the butt of everyone’s jokes if you use that rear-facing camera, the 16GB of onboard storage means you can save a few of them. There is a MicroSD that supports up to 64GB cards if you need more space.

Each of the Tab 4 tablets will include Samsung services, which include Group Play, Samsung Link, and WatchON. If you’re interested in picking one up for yourself, each Tab 4 model will be available sometime between this month and June. While black and white were confirmed as color choices, we have no word on whether there will be more color choices added in the future or how much each model will cost.

Your boring old rigid smartphone is no longer the future. The future is foldable, and while folding and flipping phones are still very much in their infancy as far as market share goes, they're definitely a growing part of the smartphone sector. Samsung is now on its fifth generation of foldable phones, and if any company can be said to have cracked the code on folding, it's Samsung. While the Z Fold series with its massive screen is cool, it's hard to beat the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5's clamshell-style flip-fold for convenience. That, along with the lower price, means it's likely to be the folding phone style for many.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has been revealed, and it's flippin' marvelous. So far, it's largely just Samsung that has defined the nascent flip smartphone market, and while flipping and folding phones haven't quite broken into the mainstream yet, the Z Flip 5 is sure to tempt more and more people into buying into the future of smartphone design. The biggest new addition to the Z Flip 5 is the much larger outer screen, which is a big upgrade over the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4's much smaller display and worthy of rivaling the Motorola Razr Plus's impressively large outer display.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is sure to be a technological marvel, packed with the latest and most powerful hardware Samsung can get its hands on. But what about a piece of very old tech? What about the humble 3.5mm headphone jack? Does Samsung's latest flip phone have room for a headphone jack, or does the Z Flip 5 follow the same trend of the last few years in omitting the venerable port?
