Gear Fit vs. Gear 2 vs. Gear: Which smartwatch reigns supreme?

gear fit vs 2 galaxy smartwatches

Ever since James Bond used one to contact Q, the world has been intrigued by the idea of smartwatches. Recently many companies have been developing their own mark on history, but Samsung was one of the first to get in the game and it’s not slowing down. During its Unpacked 5 event at Mobile World Congress on Feb. 25, Samsung announced its new additions to the smart watch world. The Galaxy Gear Fit is a sleek and streamlined version of the Galaxy Gear and it is focused on fitness. Though it can still receive notifications like texts and calls, it also comes with a pedometer, heart rate monitor, timer, and stop watch. It will be available in April, and a price hasn’t been released.

The second watch Samsung announced was the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. Though it looks more similar to the Gear 2 than the Gear Fit, the biggest difference is it uses the Tizen operating system. It is unclear how this will change the availability of apps. The Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are the same except the Gear 2 comes with a 2-megapixel auto focus camera with 720p video recording. The price is still unknown. Below is a breakdown of the specs from all three watches. See how the Samsung Galaxy Gear stands up to the Sony Smartwatch 2 here

Conclusion

The Galaxy Fit is a good workout companion, but it only allows notifications from certain applications, and it can be awkward to use. The Gear 2 acts as a better all-around smartwatch but we don’t yet know much about the capabilities of the Tizen operating system. The original Gear has done well since it’s release, but it will be interesting to see how the new watches stack up when their prices are revealed. Overall, we’re not sure yet which device to recommend, but out of the three, the Gear Fit appears to have a wider variety of uses, and its focus on health is more useful.

Fitbit Versa 4 vs. Fitbit Sense 2: Which new Fitbit wins?
Lifestyle photo of the Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2.

Fitbit is back with two new health-focused smartwatches, the Fitbit Versa 4 and the Fitbit Sense 2. Both watches are well-designed tools with health-tracking features, superseding the Fitbit Versa 3 and the original Sense.

While Google purchased Fitbit in the interim between both releases, these still use the company's proprietary Fitbit OS in lieu of Wear OS 3. For that, you'll need to get the Pixel Watch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, or the Montblanc Summit 3. Instead, these releases from Fitbit iterate and refine what made their previous models so good. The good batteries and handsome designs remain, accompanied by changes to heft and feel and minor software tweaks here and there. With so much overlap, there's a question to be raised about which of the two is the better fit for your wrist and wallet, so which is better for you? We found out.

Samsung Galaxy A53 vs. OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G
Samsung Galaxy A53 5G in white and black.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is possibly the best mid-range phone you'll see all year. Featuring a luscious 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, it looks stunning. Its performance isn't to be sniffed at either, with its five-nanometer Exynos 1280 chip, 6GB of RAM, quadruple-lens rear camera setup, and 5,000mAh battery.

Of course, in a world where overachieving mid-range phones are now becoming the norm, its bid for supremacy isn't unchallenged. If you're an Android fan, one of its biggest rivals is the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G. This is another device that punches above its weight in performance, helped by an alluring 6.43-inch AMOLED display, a triple-lens camera, and 65W fast-charging. However, with the strengths of each phone residing in different areas, it's difficult to decide which is the better device for you.
