How to show battery percentage on iPhones with iOS 16
If you have an iPhone 8 or newer running iOS 16, Apple makes it incredibly easy to display the battery percentage in your status bar, allowing you to constantly see the battery percentage no matter what you're doing. Here's how it works.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Scroll down the page and tap Battery.
Step 3: Tap the toggle next to Battery Percentage.
With this enabled, you'll now see your iPhone's battery percentage at the top right of your screen. When you have under 20% battery remaining, the icon turns red. When your iPhone is charging, the battery icon turns green.
Furthermore, this setting works on iPhones with and without the Home button. So long as you're running iOS 16 or a later version, showing your battery percentage is a piece of cake.
How to show battery percentage on iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Mini, and iPhone 13 Mini
Unfortunately, the above steps don't work for every iPhone — even if you have iOS 16. More specifically, if you have the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Mini, or iPhone 13 Mini, the above steps will not work. Instead, you'll have to do the following to show the battery percentage on your iPhone.
Step 1: Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen.
Step 2: Look at the top-right corner to find your iPhone's current battery percentage.
Even with iOS 16, there's no way to permanently see the battery percentage on these specific iPhone models. It's possible Apple may change this in future software updates, but at the time of publication, you need to open the Control Center to see your battery.
