HP reportedly set to release its Android and Windows tablets sometime this year

hp outed upcoming android windows tablets pro slate
Is HP prepping two tablets for release sometime this year? According to Liliputing, it sure is, as the outlet spotted both the HP Pro Slate 10 EE G1 and HP Pro Tablet 10 EE G1.

Originally discovered by Notebook Italia, both tablets are powered by an Intel quad-core Bay Trail Atom Z3735F processor. Accompanying the processor package is 2GB of RAM, as well as 32GB of internal storage. Both the Pro Slate and Pro Tablet come with 10.1-inch displays, as well as 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC.

What differentiates the tablets from each other is the operating system each of them runs. The Pro Slate sticks with Android, while the Pro Tablet opts for Windows 8.1. The “Pro” moniker on the tablets mean they will each come with a stylus, but since there’s no active digitizer, expect the styli to behave the same way as your finger would when interacting with the screen.

Reportedly, the Pro Slate and Pro Tablet will launch with different variations, starting at 345 and 354 Euros, respectively. The cheapest Pro Tablet model will run Windows 8.1 with Bing, with the only difference between it and Windows 8.1 proper is Bing is set as the default search engine for Internet Explorer. The cheapest Pro Tablet model will also, reportedly, not include a stylus.

Since Web portals for both tablets are currently active, with documentation for the Pro Tablet available for anyone’s eyes, we should expect some kind of launch sometime this year, though HP has yet to officially announce either device.

This is the most jaw-dropping Android phone I’ve seen in years
Angled view of OnePlus 11 Marble Odyssey Edition.

“I’ll buy this one just for the looks,” remarked the barista at my favorite coffee shop as he saw me photographing the OnePlus 11 Marble Odyssey Edition. I’d do that, too. Who wouldn’t buy an extremely well-rounded Android phone that’s got a marble-like back with gold accents but still comes cheaper than your bland-looking iPhone or Samsung Galaxy?

In the past few years, OnePlus has drawn flak for losing its edge, losing grip with the famed “flagship killer” mantra that won its legions of fans. Passionate fans, I’d say. The OnePlus 11, starting at $700, brought the brand back on track. In my own experience, I haven’t used a phone as fulfilling as the OnePlus 11 over the past year. Of course, a palatable price makes it immediately likable, too.

Great for browsing, this 7-inch Android tablet is discounted to $49
The Onn Tablet Pro lying on a table.

For one of the cheapest tablet deals you can buy at the moment, check out Walmart and the Onn. 7-inch tablet. It's usually priced at $59 but it's enjoying a $10 price cut bringing it down to $49. While it won't be the fastest of tablets around, if you simply need one for basic web browsing or to entertain the kids on a long journey, it'll do the job well enough. Here's what else you need to know about it.

Why you should buy the Onn. 7-inch tablet
No Onn. tablet features in our look at the best Android tablets but don't let that put you off. This tablet is all about keeping things cheap yet cheerful. It has a 7-inch screen with a reasonable resolution of 1024 x 600. Alongside that is a 2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of memory, and 32GB of storage. Clearly, this isn't going to be a fast tablet but it runs Android 11 (Go Edition) well enough. It's suited for any time you want to browse the internet without your phone or if you want to keep your kids busy. Thanks to the Android support, you can play a number of games here although don't count on anything too taxing without sluggish performance.
