A lot of the hype surrounding HTC these days may have to do with its flagship, the HTC 10, but that’s most certainly not the only phone the company offers. In fact, as of today you can add a splash of color to your life with the HTC Desire 530, now available in the U.S. from both T-Mobile and Verizon.
The Desire 530’s specs aren’t bad, but what HTC says really sets this phone apart is its unique design. The device comes in three color choices, with each featuring a speckled paint splash — something that HTC calls “micro splash.” What’s cool about it is that there isn’t a pre-set design, so each device will look slightly different.
Of course, specs are still pretty important, but this isn’t the device for those who want a powerful phone. That doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with the phone — it’s just aimed at people who simply need a phone to be a phone.
“The new HTC Desire 530 is the most unique Desire available — combining our micro splash finish with impressive audio and high quality cameras, all at an incredible price,” said Nigel Newby-House, AVP of Product Planning at HTC, in an emailed statement.
The device offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 1.1GHz processor along with 1.5GB of RAM. As far as storage goes, the phone has 16GB of it. The camera has an 8MP sensor with an f/2.4 aperture, which isn’t going to convince anyone you have a dSLR, but it should be able to capture your everyday life just fine. The front-facing camera is 5MP, and the HTC BoomSound speakers are aimed at delivering decent audio volume without distorting the sound.
While the specs may not be spectacular, the $180 price tag makes them not seem too bad. The Desire 530 will be available for $180 and will be available in Blue Lagoon, Sprinkle White, or Stratus White. Note, however, that individual carriers may not offer all of those color choices.
