HTC’s next flagship Android phone will be announced on March 25

htc m8 one two launch event set for march 25

Check out our review of the HTC One M8 smartphone.

HTC has told us to circle March 25 on our calendars, at which time it promises ‘The best will get better.’ What could it mean? Well, the event is almost certainly to announce HTC’s new flagship phone, currently known under the HTC M8 codename. The news comes via the official HTC UK Twitter account, and other sources are saying the company will hold joint events in New York and London on the day.

HTC’s follow-up to the One has been rumoured for several months, and may be named the HTC One Two, the HTC One+ or something else entirely. Its debut will come just over a year after the One’s launch, and the event’s late March date means the phone won’t be on display during Mobile World Congress. Although we’ll probably never know, HTC may have taken this decision to avoid clashing with Samsung’s big announcement, which is expected to be the Galaxy S5.

Samsung’s new flagship phone is sure to attract plenty of attention in Barcelona, and HTC is wise to avoid competing with it. It’ll only be a brief respite though, as the two phones will do battle in stores soon after the show ends.

HTC hasn’t shared any technical details concerning its new phone, but there has been plenty of speculation regarding it. The screen size may increase to 5-inches, although the resolution will probably remain at 1080p, and a quad-core processor, most likely the Snapdragon 800 will probably power the device. Leaked images seem to show a mysterious second camera lens on the phone’s rear panel, and reports suggest this new UltraPixel setup will improve quality and provide user definable depth of focus settings.

You can read all the rumors about the HTC One Two/One+ in our full report here, and we’ll bring you all the news on HTC’s new flagship phone on March 25.

I record interviews for work. These are my favorite free recorder apps

Before you head to the app store on your phone to buy a voice-recording app, take a moment to consider the apps that may already be installed on your phone. Why? In my experience, they're likely all you really need. I’ve recorded interviews and voice-overs for work for years, and I’ve found the two best examples come preinstalled on your phone already, so they’re entirely free to use.

Google Pixel Tablet just got its first big discount and it’s worth a look
Google Pixel Tablet on its charging dock.

Tablets are a dime-a-dozen these days, with offerings from all the great brands including Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, and more. So, if you really want to stand out in a sea of similar tech, you need to do things a little differently. That's what Google's Pixel Tablet offers. How? It comes with a unique speaker dock that can be used to both charge the device and offer room-filling sound -- almost like a smart speaker add-on. Better yet, when your Pixel Tablet is docked it benefits from the Hub Mode, turning the device into a smart display, with digital photo frame support, smart home controls, and hands-free Google functionality. Of course, it could set you back at full price, normally $499 unless you find it included in a roundup of the best Google Pixel deals. Well, guess what? Thanks to a Best Buy Google Pixel Tablet deal, you can get it today for $439 and save $60. Hurry, though, it's part of Best Buy's recent 48-hour sale so it won't stick around for long.

Why you should buy the Google Pixel Tablet
Okay, okay, so in our Google Pixel Tablet review, Joe Maring did give it less than stellar remarks, but he called out its reliable fingerprint sensor, comfortability during use and excellent speaker dock. Honestly, how many tablets come with a matching speaker dock that transforms the entire experience? This tablet also marks a "lot of firsts" for Google, as it's the first tablet from the company in nearly five years, the first Android tablet in eight years, and can be converted into a smart home display with the speaker dock. All of which are notable milestones.
