The HTC One M8 has been launched in a further two colors, a striking blue and an attractive red. The new hues join the standard Gunmetal Grey, Glacial Silver, and Amber Gold options presented when the phone was first unveiled several months ago. However, if you’re hoping to pick up a brightly colored One M8, you may have some difficulty depending on where you live.
If you’re partial to the Aqua Blue model, then at the moment you’re going to have to order the phone through UK online retailer MobileFun, where the standard 16GB model is yours for £550 (that’s about $920), which matches the regular SIM-free One M8’s price. According to the blurb, there are no changes to the specification, other than the color.
The red One M8 was revealed on Twitter by HTC’s global communications manager, who also confirmed the device “launched early today in Taiwan,” so unless you live nearby, then you’re out of luck if you want this one too. The pricing and spec weren’t mentioned, so it’s not clear whether the red phone will be offered with 16GB or 32GB of internal memory.
HTC’s decision to paint the One M8 red and blue doesn’t come as a huge surprise. It used the same colors to brighten up the 2013 HTC One, and also sent them out as network and retailer exclusives for a short period of time. It may take a while, but we’d expect these new colors to be made more widely available in the future.
The new color options come shortly after another HTC One M8 special edition made its debut, the Harmon/Kardon One M8 made specially for Sprint. The phone also comes in its own livery, a cool shiny black with subtle champagne accents. It’s available now, and you can read our review here.
