Lenovo announces the Tab S8, the company’s first Intel Atom-powered Android tablet

During its press conference at IFA 2014 in Berlin, Lenovo announced the company’s first Intel Atom-powered Android tablet, the Tab S8.

Running on Android 4.4 KitKat, the Tab S8 is powered by an Intel Atom Z3745 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. As for the tablet’s 8-inch 1920 x 1200 pixel display, Lenovo utilizes the company’s One Glass Solution. Much like Acer’s Zero Air Gap technology, One Glass Solution cuts the distance between the touch and LCD layers. This allows for increased touchscreen sensitivity, as well as improved outdoor visibility and minimized reflections.

The front panel is equipped with a 1.6-megapixel camera, and an 8-megapixel camera graces the rear of the Tab S8. Also on the front panel are Dolby-enhanced dual speakers for your music-listening and movie-watching needs. Lenovo claims the Tab S8 will get up to seven hours of battery life.

The biggest draw will be the price. The Tab S8 will be available beginning in September starting at $200. If you’re interested, it will be available through “major retailers” and Lenovo’s online store.
