A close-up of the rear shows a 16-megapixel camera lens with optical image stabilization, according to the branding alongside, plus a laser autofocus sensor – just like the LG G3 – and a triple LED flash unit. A view from the side shows a slider switch, but it’s impossible to read the markings identifying its function. It could just be a mute switch, but it could also be something more exciting.
Interestingly, Lenovo has laid the rear panel of the phone out in landscape orientation, to prompt people to hold the phone like they would a compact camera. The switch sits next to what’s probably a large shutter release button, and the camera lens does protrude slightly when viewed from the side. It’s speculated it may have an optical zoom built in.
The body appears to be made from metal, and the rear panel from glass. The leak states a Snapdragon 810 chip with 4GB of RAM will power the phone, Android 5.0 will be installed, and the 5.5-inch screen will have a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. It sounds great, and Lenovo has been making some interesting smartphones for a while now. However, it still hasn’t released any under its own name internationally, although it has talked about doing so since acquiring Motorola.
If the leak is accurate, and the Lenovo phone pictured is destined for release, we could see it officially announced during Mobile World Congress at the beginning of March. We’ll be at the show, and will bring you all the news should it make an appearance.
