LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in mobile communications, announced the worldwide availability of the new LG Chocolate phone (LG BL40), offering customers in Hong Kong and the rest of the world a closer look at the eagerly-awaited widescreen device. The new LG Chocolate is the fourth handset in LG’s Black Label Series and successor to the highly-acclaimed LG Chocolate.
The new LG Chocolate’s red carpet event in Hong Kong showcased the phone’s unconventional design direction and highlighted its unique partnerships in entertainment and fashion, including collaborations with designer label Twenty8Twelve and movie studio Twentieth Century Fox.
The evening brought together high-profile names who were inspired by the new LG Chocolate’s unconventional design, viewing and usability features. Taiwan’s leading actress Chi-ling Lin and Singapore TV personality and jewelry designer Nadya Hutagalung gave personal accounts of their experience with the new phone.
As part of LG’s association with Twentieth Century Fox, the new Chocolate phone comes embedded with content from director James Cameron’s new epic 3D fantasy, Avatar. Jon Landau, the film’s producer, was on hand at the phone’s global launch to introduce exclusive footage of this highly-anticipated movie.
“Having offered Europe a taste of the new LG Chocolate, we are now delighted to introduce this new mobile experience to the rest of the world,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “We expect the new LG Chocolate — which represents the epitome of Black Label Series design superiority — to make a strong connection with consumers around the globe who value unconventional thinking.”
Minimalistic and sleek, the new LG Chocolate breaks from standard mobile phone designs with its disruptively different 4-inch wide touchscreen. Featuring a stretched 21:9 ratio HD panoramic display, the mobile experience has been reinvented by LG for a better user experience when browsing web pages, checking e-mails or viewing videos on the handset’s cinema-like screen.
The new LG Chocolate made its first public appearance in the U.K. in September. Starting November 5, the handset will be available to customers worldwide.
