The budget smartphone packs a 4.5-inch WVGA display, and it’s powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM that should keep things chugging along. There’s a disappointing 8GB of internal memory built in, though the Galaxy Core Prime supports up to a 128GB Micro SD card. You can use it to store pictures taken with the 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera, among other things.
Finally, while the 2,000mAh battery is pretty small, the handset doesn’t seem to have beefy specifications that will bring the battery to its knees, so it should last you through the day.
Contract aficionados can nab this budget phone for only $30, though if you qualify for Verizon Edge, you can get the Galaxy Core Prime for $8 a month. While it will be released this Thursday, Verizon did not reveal what the off-contract price would be.
Only the ultimate penny pinchers need apply, though, since Samsung’s latest and greatest is seemingly right around the corner. The company has a press event planned at Mobile World Congress on March 1, where it’s expected to launch its new flagship, the Galaxy S6.
