Mophie cuts the cord with its first wireless charging iPhone 6S and Galaxy S7 cases

Charging devices is a little annoying, but it’s set to get easier — wireless charging is on the rise, and while only certain phones currently allow for it, some companies are trying to bring it to everyone.

Take Mophie, for example. The company has launched a new series of battery cases, called Juice Pack Wireless cases, with wireless charging built in, as well as a number of accessories for those cases, all designed to make your charging life a little easier.

The cases finally bring wireless charging to the iPhone 6, 6S, 6 Plus, and 6S Plus, however the case is also available for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. The best thing about the new products isn’t that they offer wireless charging, however. It’s that they couple that wireless charging with magnets to make charging even easier.

“Wireless charging is being integrated into our lives at coffee shops, restaurants, airports, in furniture, cars, and so on,” said Mophie COO and co-founder Shawn Dougherty, in a statement. “By providing a diverse range of wireless charging options, we’ve taken the performance and convenience of mobile power even further.”

Along with the cases, Mophie is also offering a desk mount and a car vent mount — instead of having to clip the phone in like other car mounts, you simple touch it to the mount, and the magnets will hold in in place. And the charging will proceed.

The battery inside the cases is 1,560mAh for the smaller iPhone 6 and 6S, and 2,420mAh for the larger iPhone 6 Plus and 6S Plus. The charging technology inside the cases is Qi, which is a pretty standard technology for wireless charging — which means that if you don’t want to use a Mophie charging base, you don’t have to.

Of course, Mophie isn’t the only company offering wireless charging cases. The iPhone has never had wireless charging as an option, prompting a number of companies to release wireless charging cases of their own. Still, the fact that the case is magnetic and connects to other related accessories is an interesting addition, and while it’s not that groundbreaking, it does make things a little easier. The only drawback? The price — the new products start at $100, which isn’t cheap, especially when there are other wireless charging cases out there for less.

The Mophie charging cases, desk mount, and car mount are available from mophie.com and Best Buy, and will be available through Apple in coming weeks. Check out the video below for more info.

Want to turn your iPhone into a Galaxy S23? This app is for you
OneUI TryGalaxy view

The best kind of marketing is the one that happens in the hands of an interested person who just might be your next customer. Samsung certainly thinks that way and is trying its best, not just because it’s a sound strategy, but also owing to the fact that arch-rival Apple has mastered the art with its meticulously imagined store experience.

Samsung’s latest ploy is a web app designed for iPhones that will give you a taste of its One UI 5.1 software that runs on its Galaxy S23 series phones. Actually, scratch that. The company is welcoming you to “the other side” by letting you experience its heavily customized take on Android and find out for yourself if it can surpass iOS for you. The solution is called Try Galaxy.

Deep purple iPhone 14 Pro and Cream Galaxy S23 crossed over

Samsung’s Galaxy S23 is here, and it's quickly become one of the best phones you can buy in 2023. For $800, you’re getting a small but mighty phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset, long-lasting battery life, and a powerful triple lens camera system with a 50-megapixel main shooter.

But how does one of the best Android phones stack up against Apple’s smallest flagship, the iPhone 14 Pro? It has just as many cameras as the Galaxy S23, a powerful 48MP main camera, and costs $200 more than Samsung's handset.

I love the Galaxy S23 — here are 5 things the iPhone still does better
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Apple iPhone 14 Pro

Samsung’s Galaxy S23 has arrived to the masses, and it’s one of the best Android phones you can get right now, especially the S23 Ultra. However, for those who don’t need all of the fancy bells and whistles, like the S Pen and 200MP main camera, the regular S23 is also plenty powerful for the average person, especially if you prefer smaller devices.

I’ve been using the Galaxy S23 for the past few weeks, and so far, my experience has been delightful. I know that it’s still early on in the year, but for me, the S23’s small size is perfect and comfortable. Android also does a lot of things better than iOS, like individual volume controls and notifications, for example. But I am still primarily using my iPhone 14 Pro — despite Apple having some big flaws, such as overprocessing images after you capture them.
