Moto G 4G LTE version rumored, could be joined by Ferrari edition, and budget Moto E

Rumors are swirling around Motorola’s future smartphone plans at the moment, providing hints we’re soon to see at least three new devices launch, including a 4G LTE version of the Moto G, a special Ferrari branded edition, and a super slim entry level device known as the Moto E. There are no official details on any of these phones yet, but here’s what we’ve heard so far.

The Moto G is a great little phone. It’s well-specced, well-priced, and in our opinion, well worth buying. However, some wanted it to come with 4G LTE, and it appears Motorola may grant that wish soon. Anonymous sources say the Moto G LTE will feature exactly the same specification sheet as the regular 3G Moto G, but with the addition of a faster data connection. It’s also possible the phone will only be available with 16GB of internal memory.

Ferrari Motorola XT621If a 4G LTE Moto G is announced, expect the price to be higher than the 3G model. The 16GB 3G phone is priced at $200. We should look out for an official launch in June, according to the report. Another Moto G could be launched at the same time, and it may be a Ferrari branded special edition. Motorola already sells a Ferrari edition of the XT621 in Mexico – where all these Motorola rumors originated – with exclusive wallpapers, ringtones, a bright red body, and Ferrari branding. A Ferrari Moto G would probably be a similar brand cash-in.

Finally, we come to the Moto E. Instead of being another spin-off, this looks like a brand new phone. The leaked spec sheet indicates it’ll be smaller than the Moto G, with a 4.3-inch display, but should retain the 720p resolution. The processor is listed as a 1.2GHz dual-core chip, and other features could include a 5-megapixel camera, Android 4.4 KitKat, and 4GB of internal memory. It’s the dimensions which make the Moto E standout. At a mere 6.2mm thick, it could be one of the slimmest phones we’ve seen.

Motorola may target Latin America and other growing markets with these three phones. However, the Moto G has given the company considerable success in other countries, so don’t be surprised if these rumored phones end up getting a wider release. We’ll just have to wait for Motorola to make them official before finding out more.

Until 2019, if you had to buy a smartphone with a stylus, you were pretty much stuck with the Samsung Galaxy Note series. Late in December, popular tipster Onleaks -- in collaboration with Prepp -- posted the first-ever photos of what they claimed to be the Moto G Stylus 2022. Today, another leak from Nils Ahrensmeier, posted images that seem to be an authentic-looking spec sheet of this year’s Moto G Stylus.

Motorola’s Moto G200 is coming to China in January 2021

Motorola officially launched the Moto G100 in March 2021 and released it in the United States in July. Now, the successor to the device -- the Moto G200 -- has been unveiled . The phone has been internally code-named "Yukon/Xpeng." The new smartphone is expected to be launched in China as the Moto Edge S30 and be available for sale in January 2021.

Motorola's upcoming device will have a plastic unibody, with a 6.8 inch LCD full HD+ display featuring an impressive refresh rate of 144Hz. This is much higher than the Moto G100's refresh rate of 90Hz. The Moto G100's Snapdragon 870 5G chipset will also receive a more powerful upgrade, with the G200 expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 888 processor. It will feature 8GB RAM and either 128 GB and 256 GB of storage.

Motorola’s new Moto G Power (2022) keeps long battery life, adds better camera

The Moto G Power (2022) is officially the newest part of Motorola's Moto G family, and the successor to the Moto G Power (2021) that we reviewed early this year. As our review of the earlier model noted, all the key selling points are here, like the long-lasting three-day battery life, huge display, and sturdy design. But on top of that, Motorola also appears to have addressed our complaints about the weak camera performance and mediocre panel, by significantly beefing up both, though it still hasn't brought 5G to the device likely to keep it under $200.

To start with, the new G Power features a 6.5-inch 1600 x 720 IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate, meaning everything will be smoother than last year's 60Hz panel. It's still not really a bump up from 720p -- 1080p would have been nice given the big screen, but it'll still feel a lot better to use. In terms of weight and dimensions, it's about the same size and tips the scale at about 203 grams. The design is fairly sturdy and is IP52 water-repellent, however, it is not technically waterproof, so don't fully immerse it.
