Motorola has opened up its own online store in the UK, where it will be selling the new Moto X, Moto G, and Moto 360 smartwatch directly to the public, neatly avoiding any need to sign deals with local networks. This is excellent news for UK-based Moto fans, due to the manufacturer almost withdrawing from Europe entirely over the past few years.

While all three new Motorola devices are listed, the only one which is actually on sale is the Moto G. It’s the second generation model launched at the beginning of the month, which means it boasts a larger, 5-inch display with a 720p resolution, an updated 8-megapixel camera, and a more powerful 2070mAh battery. The phone is available SIM-free, without a contract, for £150. In the United States, the same phone has a $180 price tag.

A “coming soon” badge is in place of a buy it now button on the Moto X’s dedicated page, and there’s the option to sign-up for further information. No price has been quoted yet. It’s the same story for the Moto 360 smartwatch, but the site’s launch does at least confirm the device will be out in the UK in the near future.

Sadly, although Motorola’s three main new products will be sold through the store, neither its Moto Hint Bluetooth earpiece or Motorola Turbo Charger accessories have their own page yet. Whether these will see a release in the future remains unknown.

Motorola relaunched in the UK with the Moto G last year, and such was the success of the device, it quickly grabbed 6 percent market share in the country. However, it has either always struggled to find support with UK networks, or has never been inclined to work for it. By opening its own store, Motorola joins other, more niche, smartphone manufacturers which have successfully sold hardware online, including Huawei, Oppo, and Xiaomi.

The best Motorola Moto G Fast cases and covers
Motorola Edge Moto Action menu

The Motorola Moto G Fast is one of the best budget phones you can buy right now. With a modern design aesthetic, durable build, and solid performance and battery life, it's a phone well worth the $200 you're going to spend on it. In our Moto G Fast review, we gave it an Editor’s Choice award and called it the best bet for consumers on a tight budget.

If you’re looking to maximize that investment, you'll obviously want to get a case for it. Since the phone is made from plastic, it's prone to scuffs and scratches, and you'll want to protect the screen as well. There are several great options to choose from, and we’ve compiled the best options here for you.

Motorola can’t hold back, has four new phones to show everyone
motorola-one-macro

Motorola has been busy and has four phones to show everyone, three of which are entirely new, and one we’ve seen before. However, they have all been announced for new territories, which confusingly alters depending on the model. Before you start counting out the money for one of these new Moto phones, none are coming to the U.S. or Canada.

With that clear, meet the Motorola Moto G8 Play, the Moto G8 Plus, the Moto E6 Play, and the Motorola One Macro.
Motorola G8 Plus
Motorola’s big main release is the G8 Plus, which has a triple-lens rear camera headed up by a 48-megapixel main lens, with Night Vision technology for a 4x boost in low-light performance. It’s joined by a wide-angle lens with a 117-degree field of view, and a 25-megapixel selfie camera. The 4,000mAh battery will return 40 hours of use, says Motorola, and is recharged using Motorola’s TurboPower feature. This gives eight hours use after 15 minutes of charging.

I record interviews for work. These are my favorite free recorder apps

Before you head to the app store on your phone to buy a voice-recording app, take a moment to consider the apps that may already be installed on your phone. Why? In my experience, they're likely all you really need. I’ve recorded interviews and voice-overs for work for years, and I’ve found the two best examples come preinstalled on your phone already, so they’re entirely free to use.
